  1. They are asking high for now. I agree they are not getting two top prospects from anyone for one year of Betts at a high salary plus Price at a salary no team wants. The question is what would you give them to get a deal done today instead of later in the year when the price goes down and more teams are interested. Price has the lowest value on baseballtradevalues.com of any starting pitcher in baseball, lol. Negative 55. Not as bad as Chris Davis or Miguel Cabrera though.
  2. He's never been an all star though. Josh Donaldson is a three time all star and won an MVP. Donaldson has 45 career WAR. Maybe neither of them really care but if I was Rosie I'd let him take #20.
  3. I assume it's the former. He probably hasn't talked to Rosie yet but wants to.

    Trade Now?

If there's anything going on you'll hear about it on TD. The local sports media up here is still primarily talking about the Vikings, and secondarily talking about the super bowl and the packers loss.
  5. Hey John Bonnes! I hope he isn't #24. Cmon Rosie...

  7. Matt Antonelli said on one of his youtube videos that knowing what pitch is coming is the biggest advantage you can have as a hitter. More advantageous than taking steroids. So there's one former mlb player who said that, though I'm sure he wasn't on the xm radio interview. He also mentioned the home/road astros splits from postseason 2017.
  8. This is really complete, thanks for doing the research. I added this in another thread, but I'm intrigued by Salazar and Walker. Would definitely take a flier for a ST invite, 1mil if they make the team for either or both of them. Exact deal that Felix got from the Braves. Don't start the clock on Balazovic yet.
  9. He is actually really good at bowling, thanks for reminding me.
  10. Of course the Red Sox are starting the negotiations high for now. The longer you wait the more the price (pun intended) comes down. Like others have said I don't think it's worth talking about this because the Twins are not going to have a 180 million dollar payroll, unfortunately. If they could swing 180 million for one year, I'd wait until March, then offer them: 1. Rosario or Cave, whichever one they want 2. Luke Raley 3. Royce Lewis See if that gets Bloom to pick up the phone if we eat all of Price's contract.
  11. Especially if we're ALSO trading away Jordy Blaze. I'm almost more reluctant to give up Balazovic than I am Lewis at this point if I'm the Twins, given that he looks like the most sure-thing starting pitching prospect in our system.
  12. You're missing my point. My point is that Josh Donaldson does more for clubhouse chemistry, morale and leadership than Hyun Jin Ryu. That's it.
  13. I like Rosie on this team. He provides other benefits besides his numbers. No question his defense is not elite, but saying that Kiriloff is better defensively or faster is flat out not true. Kiriloff is slow and not good in left, which is why he played a lot of first base last season. Trevor Larnach's swing actually reminds me a lot of Rosie, but Larnach is more selective at the plate and takes walks. Larnach is also average to above average in right field. Cave and Rosario have very similar trade value to another team because Cave is younger, cheaper and has more years of control, plus he can play center in a pinch. If a team is asking about Rosario, I would ask them if they want Cave instead. Pick one.
  14. Jim Kaat was a phenomenal athlete. That said, his career batting average is .185 and career ops is .494. That's really bad. His two years as an all star were right in line with that career ops at .507 and .499. I would prefer to watch someone with an ops of 800 hit instead of someone with an ops of 500. If there's a two way player who can pitch AND ops 800, that's awesome and fun to watch that player bat and hit.
  15. Agreed. I was thinking he'd start in April-May, then transition to the pen depending on who is pitching well and who is healthy. They must not think his secondary pitches are good enough or are really concerned about workload. We could always do the Chris Paddack type workload limit as a starter though.
  16. I've had teammates and clients who don't speak english. Nothing against them personally but if you don't speak the same language as someone it's more difficult to build a relationship with them. Speaking through an interpreter is hard sometimes.
  17. Yes, I really like the DH. I wish the NL would adopt it. I think watching bunting is boring. I'm glad Rocco doesn't bunt.
  18. Here you go.
  19. Also, the intentional walk is now holding up four fingers instead of purposely throwing four balls way outside. Change should've been made years ago.
  20. I did this deal last year as well, and ended up going to 19 games, but I didn't have the pass until the middle of May. I'll do it again, just because it's really nice not looking for tickets on the day of the game. I usually stood behind home plate for the first four innings, then found a spot in the lower deck somewhere.
  21. We need to root against the Reds. I want Trevor Bauer on the Twins for half a season.
  22. Walker and Salazar are intriguing to me as well. Salazar is going to be a huge flier but some team will sign him for not that much money, he is not old, and he is not that removed from an all star season.
  23. I would most definitely have not. One guy has been a 5 war player 6 of the last 7 years and one has pitched 180 innings only twice in the last 7 years. One plays every day. They're the same age. The cost is similar. One is a competitive veteran clubhouse presence superstar with lots of postseason experience and more swagger than anyone. The other doesn't speak english. Absolutely no comparison in my eyes.
  24. Yeah, there's so much speculation it's not even worth it IMO. We would have had totally different answers last year every month of the season. Dobnak wasn't even on the AA roster at the beginning of the year and Pineda was a total wildcard coming off TJ. I assumed Gibby would be a playoff starter based on his stellar 2018.
