  1. Agreed! I think there is a nonzero chance Foolish BB's video had an impact on Larry Walker's HOF entry. I think it helped more that there was only one other deserving candidate this year. I love foolish BB!
  2. I'm pretty sure if Royce Lewis hit .360 in just about every level like Juan Soto than he would be with the Twins right now. Hey, the Twins promoted Arraez straight from AA and that worked pretty well. Arraez is younger than Devers.
  3. I think it'd be awesome if he was on the Twins. Did you watch the rest of that half inning? Actually, did you watch that whole start? He explained it here
  4. Idk about the first question but I'll continue to watch Trevor May's youtube channel no matter what team he is on next season. And I'll keep watching Trevor Bauer's youtube channel no matter what team he's on. The growth of baseball in the past couple years has been on social media, specifically in all these specific baseball youtube channels, like jomboy, fuzzy, matt antonelli, domingo ayala, foolish baseball, etc. They are exploding. Kids are on youtube. I'm not even that young and I watch a lot of yt videos.
  5. I do agree with you that the written rules weren't necessarily clear at the time. However, baseball (for some reason) has a LOT of unwritten rules. If you as a batter on second base yell, "curveball coming" to the batter at the plate, well, that's not against any rules. But the batter on second base will most definitely get a fastball to the back his next time up. Seems like 100% of current and former players also have agreed for years that using technology to steal signs is against the unwritten rules. Now the written rules are clear on this. Another unwritten rule is that there's some sort of clubhouse code, where you don't rat out fellow baseball brethren. I totally get loyalty but personally I think this rule is stupid as applied to the astros situation. This is why some people were/are mad at Mike Fiers.
  6. If you look at which U.S. counties have the angels as the team they follow most now, as opposed to the pre Mike Trout era, there is only one conclusion to draw: Mike Trout as a player is marketable. Also if you know Bauer you know he is a big Dodger fan. Trout has 1.7 million followers on instagram. https://www.vividseats.com/blog/most-popular-mlb-teams-by-state-county
  7. Didn't Jose Canseco do that? Or did he just sell it?
  8. It's not subjective. Using technology to steal signs and relay them to the batter in real time is 100% cheating. It's explicitly against the rules. Your hypothetical scenario is not cheating. Nobody would say that's cheating and it's not against the rules.
  9. They seem to use "stuff" as the projection. That's why Smeltzer was never a top prospect. Balazovic's "stuff" is not as good as Graterol's. But, he has really good feel for four pitches and understands how to pitch. Pitchers can pitch above their projection (see, Dobnak, Randy) if they have elite command and a good plan. Pitchers can also underperform their ranking (see Thorpe, Lewis) if they have great stuff but not great command or are just "throwing" instead of "pitching."
  10. I'd rather keep Balazovic and trade virtually anyone else in the system, since he looks like the surest bet at this point to become a reliable mlb #2-3 starter. Why would we trade our best starting pitching prospect when it looks like he will join the rotation next year, and we'll need starting pitching help next year? My inital reaction is please no, but let's look and see if you agree. Both could MAYBE bring back Joey Lucchesi. I'd rather have Balazovic in the rotation next year than Lucchesi. Hard pass. Those two are not going to get you Noah Syndergaard. We'd have to throw in Lewis. Hard pass. Fair trade would be Jordan Balazovic for one year of Marcus Stroman, right now. Would you do that? I most certainly would be ticked if the Twins did that. Hard, hard pass. What about Larnach for Sean Manaea? That I would do. What about Larnach for Charlie Morton (if you can pry him away from the Rays, I would do this too, even though Morton isn't cheap)
  11. I'll take the over.
  12. They probably honestly don't think of themselves as a cheater. Before they make a decision to cheat, they rationalize it as not being cheating in their mind, and thus can accept themselves doing it. Heard it with Lance, heard it with Barry, heard it with asbel kiprop, heard it with Pineda. "everyone else is doing it" "it doesn't provide that much of an advantage." "it probably didn't even help." "I never failed a drug test" "My superiors told me to do it, and I wanted to keep my job; I have to provide for my family"
  13. I mean, he's the first position player to apologize, so that's something. Bregman and Altuve's comments were disgusting and really made me dislike both of them even more. I'm still convinced they used buzzers (and/or some other way of using codebreaker in real time to the hitter without using banging) but the commissioner's report did not mention that. I think the MLB is trying to sweep this under the rug as quickly as possible. I think there's a correlation between the release of the new playoff format and AJ Hinch's press conference where he didn't deny using buzzers as well. MLB wants so badly to make everyone think it was just the trashcans for that one season and for everyone to move on.
  14. Oof. Benintendi is not a great defensive outfielder. I guess it's fair then. Larnach's bat seems like Rosario plus plate discipline.
  15. This is making me, as a Twins fan with no personal relation to any GM or players, pretty miffed. I have no idea how Graterol, Betts, the Angels Org, Kenta Maeda, etc. feel. Pretty terrible that the Red Sox seem to be putting all these players and the organizations in flux the week before pitchers and catchers report to ST. I mean, Maeda probably had plans for next week already.
  16. Really? I would think Verdugo is better as he is a five tool player who plays center and Larnach is a bat first corner OF, but Larnach doesn't have the off field issues that Verdugo has. Nobody seems to be mentioning the sexual assault incident that happened last February.
  17. I'm glad I don't have Derek or Thad's job today. I have a feeling the trade goes through without the Twins involved. Please, do not give up another top prospect in addition to Graterol.
  18. Since they're getting Verdugo I doubt they want another outfielder. Benintendi is under control for three years and they have Jackie Bradley too
  19. Thankfully we are in the position that we don't NEED Maeda in the rotation. A rotation of Berrios, Odo, Bailey, Chacin and one rookie is acceptable. At least acceptable enough that the Twins can say they are backing out on the deal and won't give more to the Red Sox.
  20. I'm sure it will get done without having to switch the pieces, but would we rather give up Thorpe for Maeda? I would do that trade. I doubt Boston would.
  21. Looks like it. He only played in 64 games in 2018 and 57 in 2017.
  22. He also has a baseball youtube channel that many of you on here might find interesting.
  23. The argument that is the same is that prospects are just that, prospects. They are unproven and as such, you are not sure they will ever work out at the mlb level. Some do work out, but due to the numbers, most don't. For every Mike Trout first round pick there are three Kyle Gibsons and three guys who never make the majors. I'm not comparing Graterol to Stewart per se, only saying that they were both once top pitching prospects.
  24. Ah, yes, that's what I was thinking of. He's pitched well enough to have a world series win for sure.
