  1. Baddoo didn't hit at high a or low A in 2018 and 2019. He's not that good.
  2. Ortiz has the PED tag as well, though for some reason people are going to overlook it and vite him into the HOF anyway. I would assume Cruz wouldn't get in because of the suspension, but 500 homers, a world series ring and postseason heroics would definitely help his case. Mcgwire has 583 home runs and never got close to getting in. He wasn't mentioned on the PED list in the article either.
  3. I like Morneau. He doesn't need to be more comedic. He does have humor. He appeals to me as I am someone who does not need to be entertained by the broadcasters-I'm already watching baseball for entertainment, I want insight into the game.
  4. Definitely feel bad for Gibby. Not a good look for his first opening day start ever.
  5. Wish I could watch a couple innings during my late lunch break at work.
  6. Rooker was hurt then though, and Garlick wasn't on the team and OPS'ing 1.100. There are better options than AK at this moment.
  7. Spotrac says 117. 16th in MLB, below league average. CWS are at 123. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/minnesota-twins/payroll/
  8. I get that's your opinion but don't understand this sentiment. He's a two time all-star. How many teams, even playoff teams, have 2 or 3 guys ahead of him? Dodgers, Padres, Nationals and...Rays certainly don't. A's don't. Yankees don't. He makes any rotation in baseball better. If you use mlb wide sp statistics he's a backend #1 or high #2.
  9. That's true, though with yttv and hulu tv, you can pay for the months you use, and cancel after the baseball season. With cable you have a 1 yr contract, plus start up fees. I've never had issues with streaming quality on yttv. Satellite TV, on the other hand... Going to do mlb with a vpn this year.
  10. Start Rooker in left. Best bat. He will hit.
  11. I could tell you. His first pitch swing rate is very high- over 55%. If you throw heater 0-0, he will swing and probably burn you. He crushes 4 seamers and sinkers on inner half. His ops on breaking balls is lower, as it is for most hitters. Throw breaking balls low and away. If using the heater, don't throw it for a strike, use to change eye angle only and keep it away. He doesn't want to walk and will chase out of zone pitches even if ahead in the count.
  12. Color me surprised to hear that Arraez is not expected to play corner OF. I also wouldn't be surprised if Baldelli and the FO put the best team out there which involves Kiriloff starting the season in St. Paul. Rooker could easily out-hit Kiriloff this year. He set the world on fire in a small sample size last year and has hit at every milb level.
  13. Fielding percentage is pretty worthless too. More worthless than rbi's. Wins are meaningful for lots of HOF voters still, unfortunately.
  14. You are correct, but that will never happen unless the owners want it to happen. And I doubt any of the owners want that to happen. Lower max cap and higher floor are both poor outcomes if you're an owner who either wants to run a team like a business or just have fun with it like Steve Cohen. The current "cap" isn't a cap because more than two thirds of the teams have never come close to it. It's only relevant for a few large market teams.
  15. If you're on the 40 man, you're making good money whether you've debuted or not. 40 man pay is about 5 times more than minor league pay. But it's weird that your salary is the same during rookie status no matter how good you are or how much you actually play. Earlier arb makes sense, for the players.
  16. I love Dozier as much as anybody but I think the bar should be set a little higher than that. He was a one time all star, won one gold glove and had 3 seasons with the team where he was an above average hitter. 22.9 career war with the Twins puts his resume right there with Corey Koskie, also a good player but not a Twins HOF'er.
  17. Ryu is definitely better than any of the Twins starters. That's why he was an expensive FA signing. His career ERA is under 3.
  18. Remember Joe Nathan and Johan Santana? The playoff problems can't be simplified into lack of an ace and no lights out closer. Pitching was good last year. Maeda and Berrios were both great in the playoff series. Maeda finished 2nd in the Cy Young voting.
  19. Nick Gordon and Travis Blankenhorn
  20. I think you're right on another utility INF. But I bet if there is a long term injury to Polanco, Donaldson, Simmons, or Arraez, we see Blankenhorn or even Nick Gordon get called up and play every day.
  21. Probably the salary. Marwin was drastically overpaid.
  22. Agreed. And Betts probably should have won the MVP last year, so that has worked out well so far.
  23. David Ortiz was worth 5.2 WAR as a DH in his age 40 season. Also a HOF player. At least I think he will get in- he does have the PED asterisk though.
  24. Why is David Ortiz not on this list? 5.2 WAR as a DH in his age 40 season. It was arguably his best, with an OPS over 1.000 and 127 RBI's, which led the league. He finished 3rd in MVP voting.
  25. I agree with your subjective eye test except Rivas was probably better that year than Polanco will be at second, and Donaldson has historically been better than Koskie at third. Next year, I'd expect Donaldson to slow down some though. 3B is close. 1B is not close. Dougie was really good there.
