  1. Rordvedt is really stealing some of these calls.
  2. MN sports. Can't have nice things.
  3. And a lot of these fastballs are middle up or middle in, and not even being fouled off. The slider can be nasty. He's thrown a couple that just kinda spun.
  4. Cruz just ended a double digit game hit streak. He's been very good overall for TB, just not MVP caliber like he was in 2019. 123 ops+ for TB is pretty dang good.
  5. The bottom third of our lineup may actually be worse than Cleveland's, for the first time in many, many, years.
  6. I wouldn't say Arraez is underrated. He's actually gotten worse every year of his MLB career so far. He's barely an above average hitter this year, and he's not exactly Omar Vizquel out there in the field. He's a great utility guy to have, and I love watching him play though. He should probably be hitting leadoff.
  7. Yeah I don't think either the owners OR the players would be in favor of it, so it's probably never happening. Seems archaic compared to NBA, NFL, NHL though.
  8. How about a hard salary cap and a hard salary floor?!
  9. I wish we knew all the terms of the prior offers that were going back and forth earlier this summer. The Twins made it seem like these terms were included in their offers and the offers seemed generous but we never heard Buck's side of the story, so we really have no idea. Agreed; if he wins MVP, pay him 40 million a year.
  10. Even if he plays poorly, if he plays, my reservations about signing him become less. There is no denying his talent, so if he can just play 120 games a year, he's going to accumulate 3-4 WAR seasons.
  11. I wish Buck was signed to an extension already.
  12. His stuff is clearly good, and he's having fun out there. He arguably will end up being the most valuable Twins pitcher overall this year, somehow?!
  13. I would disagree- we have Celestino already on the 40 man, raking at AAA. Where does he fit? Then you have Royce Lewis and Austin Martin, who will be MLB ready in 2022 and both play SS and CF. Then there's Nick Gordon, also on the 40 man, who also plays 2B, CF, and played SS in the minors but hasn't in MLB. Honestly, trading Polo at his peak or trading Arraez, who doesn't really have a position, seem possible.
  14. Rocco literally said the Twins are rebuilding this week, using that exact word. He also said the Twins "don't have the payroll of the Dodgers or Yankees" so can't just spend our way to contention year in and year out.
  15. Wow, negative 2.7 WAR for a reliever is really bad. Why in the world did he get 58 innings?! OPS against over 1,000 for the season is incredible.
  16. Buxton is the guy people want to see at Target Field. But the biggest draw is a competitive team. When the Twins were bad and had a hall of famer on the team (Mauer) people didn't show up to see Mauer. I like Donaldson but most casual fans don't follow the team if the team isn't good.
  17. Yeah, DJ LeMahieu had just as bad home/away splits and he's sure sucked away from coors too. Wait... Difference has to do with hitting at altitude and sleeping at altitude, not that hitting in coors is easy. It's real hard to adjust to seeing sliders at altitude and sliders at sea level.
  18. How many runners has Simba thrown out at home, third, first, etc just on relay plays? He's not a good hitter but appears to be a good team leader and well-liked. Twins don't have an heir apparent at shortstop (that would be Lewis, but he can't play) so whoever else you throw out there isn't a long term viable starter either. Pineda is also well-liked and the Twins would like him back next year. I sure would.
  19. Way too early to tell on Dobnak. He was great for a year, good for a year, looked unhittable in spring training, then the Twins messed him up, then he got hurt. I expect him to be a solid #4 in the rotation next year.
  20. 1. Randy Dobnak was pretty dang good as a rookie. Good enough to start game 2 of a playoff series. 2. I totally forgot Colome has an option year. Keep throwing him out there to see if it's worth exercising.
  21. When you're 6"8 and throw 94-95, it looks like 98 to the hitter. Like Glasnow or Randy Johnson.
  22. Hancock is a better pitcher than any of the guys in the Twins system including Balazovic. He was the 6th overall pick last year. 2.3 ERA for the first 27 innings of pro ball and WHIP of 1.0 is nothing to sneeze at...
  23. Berrios for Emerson Hancock, straight up, would be a deal I'd do even though it would make the team worse next year.
  24. Mike, would you take Gore for Berrios, straight up? I doubt the Padres do it but I'd take that deal in a second.
  25. Yep. I'd be willing to bet Donaldson ends up with more career WAR than Buxton.
