    A Little League game is 6 innings. A starting pitcher in Little League is usually expected to finish. So a Major League pitcher making multiple 9 figures with 4 days rest can't go more than 5? Who do the Twins acquire, a bunch of candy back sides? Buxton gets headaches, Sano carries too much weight for his frame and body structure, their best "stuff" pitcher gets tired after having to do his job for 5 innings once a weekl. Speaks for itself. Anyone could have " seen (the possibility) of this coming. That is why this team was such an unknown going into this season. Now its becoming a known.

    I think overall it is way too easy for this team to accept losing; just show up and play and see what happens. Mauer gets another free pass... big deal. Molitor stares at the lineup card as the other team circles the bases. Where we goin to dinner after the game, boys? Last year's big August happened after the team fired itself up when ownership had given up. Since then, same old Minnesota Twins of the past decade or so. Losing has become embedded in the team's culture and it starts with ownership/management/over paid vets who don't produce and show no spark whatsoever and no example for younger players. Good luck tonight Gibson. Don't pitch too well or Molitor will probably yank you after 5.

    It is a cliche but the Twins must be hitting (pun intended) on at least 7 out of 8 cylinders to win on a consistent basis. Don't forget Polanco who was instrumental in many Ws last year. So losing him for 80 games followed by Santana and then Buxton and now Sano makes any weak link in performance disastrous and that leads to Molitor. Last year after the FO traded away Kinsler and seemed to be kissing the season good bye, somehow the remaining players kicked themselves in the behind and took themselves to the wild card for what good that did. I am convinced that Molitor had absolutely nothing to do with that and I hope he sincerely thanked his players for the manager of the year award since he had nothing to do with it. This team now has 2016 written all over it and all Molitor can do is come up with another way to say "No one saw this coming." After they lose the Toronto series he had better be fired immediately and Billy Martin Jr. brought in where ever he may be. Fear or anger or both must be applied to this team or they are history. Multi year million dollar contracts certainly don't help so the inspiration must come from some place else and it ain't Molitor.

    I always thought that the Twins' "Failvey"/Levine geniuses acquired Rodney simply to put closer in the done category and go play golf or to lunch or whatever. If Ted is aware of Rodney's past as well as his use of different pitches in the present I assume that the Twins' managment/pitching coach are as well? (Question mark used intentionally). Also, I wondered why Rodney wasn't used at all (or very little) during the 6 previous losses. Does he refuse to pitch in other than a closing situation or is this just more of Molitor's 2 page book on how to manage?

    I am more concerned with the Tampa sweep than the Yankees. An earlier post I made was incorrect as I had thought that the Twins did ok in the regular season against NY last year but, in fact, they were swept in a 3 game series and then, of course, lost the October game. They did take 2 of 3 at Target from the Yanks on the way to a winning season. Maybe the Yankees will just show up for today's game and theTwins can steal one. No matter, the 6 home games against Cincy and Toronto next on the schedule have moved into the critical category.

    I love the way Mauer sits every time Sabathia is on the mound. Does (supposedly) the Twins' best hitter (according to many) simply refuse to hit against CC? Avoiding a broom job will be a miracle and I am now worried about the Cincy series as they seem to have awakened after firing their manager hint hint.

    So the net of all of this is a 5-3 (semi) home stand instead of the 7-5 minimum I had hoped for. I hope the 4 make up games accumulated don't haunt them later. Still 3 games over .500 at 8-5 and in first place with Rays and some team from New York on the horizon. So far Kepler's home run in the 9-8 salvage job over Houston and Sano's tying home run last night are the 2 big hits, LaMarre's game winner not withstanding. No reason not to win the Tampa series and split with New York headed home for Cincy 4 games over. Go Twins!

    The fact that this thread was deemed appropriate speaks for itself. The announcer on the PR game last night said it all about Mauer. (paraphrase) "To speed the game up just give Mauer 2 strikes when he steps into the batters box". This is clearly not a hitter whose primary goal is to make solid contact with the baseball. Mauer is simply not an aggressive hitter. He works the count, plays the stats (and the umpire), and is more than happy with a flare to left or, even better, a free pass. So be it. Looks good on paper. Does not pass the eye test on the field.

    It is amazing that they had 3 snow outs followed by a scheduled day off followed by the 2 Cleveland San Juan games followed by another day off before the Tampa series. There is actually a slight chance of rain in PR and any delay would be maddening at this point. At least they get Thurs off after having to play 2 straight days in 80deg heat with high humidity lol. Please at least split the 2 games, go to Tampa and then restart the season. I get to watch tonight's game on Fox. Looking forward to it.

    These are technically home games for the Twins? No matter, who ever decided to play them in PR was (is) a genius. It had better not rain.

    I will be happy if they finish April with anything over .500 winning %. Extrapolating the first 10 games into the whole season is a good elementary school math question but not much to do with a win-loss record. Way too may variables as we all know yesterday's game being a classic example. I'll take 90 wins any day and another shot at the Yankees in the playoffs.

    All I know is that wins and losses are all that matter now. As I said in another thread, the Twins' identity for 2018 will be established by the end of the month so lets just say they are 4-4 and need a win tonight to avoid a losing streak. Individual player's stats don't mean much yet but wins and losses do and a 7-5 home stand (minus the Seattle postponement so I'll take 6-5) is what needs to happen. Just go out and win tonight. Unless Cleveland breaks away the Central should remain with a bunch of teams right around .500 for most of the season so just hang in there.

    Good perspective but totally depends on how the team does as a whole. On a winner Castro is a pro who does his job. On a loser Castro becomes part of the problem due to overall lack of hitting and slightly above average behind the plate. So as the team goes, so goes Castro.

    To me, this is a classic "lot of potential" team but also a lot of uncertainty. This team could definitely go up from last year but also could go the other way. I think Molitor's ability to keep the team fired up will be key and , so far, he hasn't been that type of manager. Tomorrow I will be looking for their attitude and determination as much as whether or not they win the game. I want to see some fire out of Molitor and I want to see some fire out of #7. This team has to start with a winning attitude and keep it for 162, and hopefully more, games. The 60-60-42 rule always works and its the team that plays every game like it is one of the 42 is the one that goes far. Go Twins.
