  1. Most/All of these are yep that's what I expected. Some interesting comments. Twins Decline Options On Bundy, Archer, Sano - MLB Trade Rumors Carlos Correa Opts Out Of Twins Contract - MLB Trade Rumors Twins To Pick Up Sonny Gray's Team Option - MLB Trade Rumors
  2. I get stealing strikes wins games. Right or wrong it seems like huge advantage to have a catcher that actually hits his weight. A two out run scoring single should be more valuable then one or two balls called a strikes in a game.
  3. Chris Williams season number are good but most on that is from AA. His Saints slash line is .192/.290/.424 .714 so pretty mediocre. I'm in this boat. Jeffers has a decent chance to be a good catcher. I hope they keep him around for awhile yet. I'm not sold on him being a #1 catcher though. Narvaez had an OPS+ 71 in 2022 and OPS+ 101 in 2021. I get the lefty/righty platoon. But there should be a better option then that. Boras Corp usually drags things out till Feb so it's likely the better FA catchers will be locked up before the Twins have an answer on Correa.
  4. The price would be high..Very high... If it wasn't the A's would have already traded him. I'd guess depending on what happens at SS would determine what will happen. I'd prefer Contreras over parting with the prospects. 4 years @ 15-20 mil the farm should produce a replacement for 1 or both catchers by then.
  5. I'm not convinced Jeffers is a #1 catcher so yes plz. Also I don't miss Garver or Rorveldt. Garver is injured more then Buxton and Rorveldt makes Sanchez look like an offensive star. The farm is slim pickings on anyone who could help anytime soon. Contreras would be a huge upgrade but I think a trade is the way they go. Someone like the Padres Nola or Mejia from the Rays.
  6. I'll go with 2.5%..Halfway between Squirrel and Beauchamp..I expect a "we tried" but hope for last off-seasons surprise.
  7. I'm in the boat of it may be to soon to make that move. If one of Celestino, Lewis or Martin prove to be MLB quality CF offensively and defensively then the sooner the better in hopes of keeping Buxton healthy.
  8. That's where my thoughts went if you have CF and SS locked in for the next 5+ seasons. Another example of Lewis/Lee moving to 3rd would be Bregman of the Astros. That on paper should be a pretty good team for a long run.
  9. Yes this needs to end. With that in mind. I've seen a lot of complaining (in the past) about Mahle and Paddock with their injuries. If not for those trades there is a good change we'd have a Shoemaker type in the 5th starter spot in 2023. Paddock probably won't be starting games till 2024. So in 2023 you want Mahle or a Shoemaker type? In 2024 Paddock or a J.A. Happ type? The FO gambled on Mahle and Paddocks health and lost in 2022. But if those trades keep a reclamation project off the roster in 2023-2024 that's likely a win all by itself. Just me 2 cents worth.
  10. Anyone that may play SS for the Twins in the near future should be a target to trade for not trade away.
  11. I be thrilled if it happened. He not only is a very good SS but improves the whole team with his leadership and baseball IQ. Having 2 of the 3 most difficult positions locked up long term would be great and it frees up Lee, Lewis and Martin to play other positions
  12. Not that I completely disagree but Garver and Rorveldt played less games then Jeffers last season
  13. I'm not convinced Jeffers is a 1A so I'd prefer Contreras. But I think that's very unlikely. So give me someone who can catch 100 games. Gary Sanchez or Christian Vazquez would be good with me.
  14. Keep the prosects and spend some $. Nick Martinez if he opts out. He's a starter/long reliever and he was quite a bit better then Clevinger and Manea.
  15. Well, if you're going to dream...dream big!
  16. What I'm curious about is...Was Scott Boras wearing a Dodgers jersey or baseball cap when he was leaking that to Heyman?
  17. The Lance Lynn approach to pitching. I agree. Throw it till they hit it then add in your slider/curveball/change up.
  18. It's a completely different era of baseball. BUT Joe Ryans age 26 stats are similar to Brad Radke's in a few ways. Innings are not even close but that's due to the 2 times through the order metrics. Quite a few of the others are similar. FIP, WHIP, BB/9 H/9. Maybe we're lucky enough to see another Brad Radke. Off speed pitches will likely improve over time. Berrios got shelled his rookie season. He was vastly improved over the next few seasons. Ryan has been better so far. Not every stud pitcher throws 99mph.
  19. I just hope the FO is aggressive with Correa. Give him their best offer right away and get after it if that isn't going to happen. Instead of this waiting for bargains thing I'd be a happy camper to see it come to an end..Start acting like they expect to win rather than the double dare you to find a better offer none sense...
  20. For a team which I seen a lot of people say doesn't have many holes it sure seems like they have a lot to do to be better than the 22 version. Yes, please bring back Correa. I think it may be time to move on from Kepler. I wish the FO would invest in the pen especially with the two times through the order plan for starters. Hitting coach, it was his 1st season in the position and I'm not ready to move on just yet. He could have played a big part in Miranda, Gordon and possibly Arreaz's good seasons. Do I think the FO will invest in the BP..No probably not, which is frustrating. Resign Correa..I expect it will come down to years and they are aways light on years. I doubt they'll go past 6-7 years and Correas going to want 8-10. Kepler getting moved IDK. Maybe they can find an expensive BP arm that they can trade him for. Josh Hader would work (kidding)
  21. An Ace is a luxury item that few of us have seen. Which probably plays a part in it. Most of us want a Range Rover SUV but we will be driving a Ford or Chevy on our way home from work. Spending on bats is this FO's MO so I expect that's where they're focused.
  22. I don't think I would trade Polanco. If I had to trade one of the Twins 2nd basemen Arreaz would make more sense to me. He may be at his peak trade value. They both have their injury concerns. Plus I think Polanco is a far better player in the field.
  23. I agree completely Canterino chances are low. The stats say..maybe..but health says nada chance. Cole didn't really do that much till the Astros got him. Verlander was always really good or an ace, Scherzer got traded before he was considered an ace. DeGrom as a unicorn I think equals blind luck. So trades or blind luck. I think the FO has been pretty good at trades just no aces yet. If this team has any luck, it's not the good kind.
  24. Duran is probably the only pitcher we have that could be an ace. But I think that ship has sailed due to injury concerns. Canterino I think had a chance to become one. I agree with others that I can't see them spending $ to sign one. So blind luck seems like the most likely way. In 2014 Jacob DeGrom (a 9th round pick in 2010) was the Mets 14th ranked prospect per MLB. Proof it can happen.
  25. If the FO doesn't sign any back of the rotation starters this offseason I for one will be happy about the pitching pipeline. It's been quite a few seasons since that wasn't a mandatory thing. Hopefully in 2-3 seasons we're talking about extending some theses players while it's still do able.
