  1. Good bring Julien back. We need an actual leadoff hitter. Twins have never been a good team unless they've had a solid leadoff man. Yes, he's struggled. But he's still getting on base at a good clip in AAA.
  2. LOL, for what? Twins tickets aren't worth much anymore...
  3. They did, but that was with a Royce Lewis that was all world and Carlos Correa was producing AND both of them were healthy. Turns out he's a fairly middle of the road player after all, Correa is slumping and aging and both have been end of the order type hitters rather than the 2-3-4's we though they were.
  4. Would that be much different than the last 2 years? They've killed their fanbase, might as well go down in a blaze of glory I guess.
  5. I can agree, but he is also part of your marketable roster. It is easier to sell tickets to see guys like him and Buxton than it is to sell them to watch a bunch of guys that nobody has heard about.
  6. I don't like this trade. You have a guy that's a hammer and throws the ball harder than most if not all pitchers in MLB. He needs to bring back a 100% sure thing with 2.5 years of control left. Period. There should be no maybes when you are trading a guy like this with that much control. Just keep him if you don't get a killer! #4 starters are worth nothing. Zero. Grab any decent pitcher in your own system and they can be #4-5 guys. You don't trade for these guys unless they are coming back as return for expiring contract guys. It must be the catcher I guess, but at 19 years old, man it's a risk. Giving up studs for non-studs is a great way to be a terrible baseball team. I obviously don't know how these 2 will pan out, but what I do know is that arms like Duran don't come around all the time...
  7. No, I think most rational people expected the Twins to struggle this year. Media maybe pegged them as being a favorite in the Central and they might be. But fan attendance and apathy tells you that most people didn't think they would be very good this year. So far, they are right.
  8. Paddock showed during the Twins last playoff run he was an absolute HAMMER out of the bullpen. It's the Twins fault for turning him back into a starter when he was nearly unhittable as a reliever. He's hurt all the time and can't get through 5 on the regular. Seemed a no brainer to me. Not sure why they had to make him a starter again. It's lead to nothing but disaster.
  9. I wouldn't take anything he has to say serious until he can do much of anything without getting hurt. I don't mind the cockiness. But I also don't understand how a 25 year old kid is hurt so often. Figure out how to stretch and keep yourself in shape please.
  10. You mean the team that consistently shoots themselves in the foot when talking to the media? I would say the Twins have been TERRIBLE in the PR game the last 3 years. They literally have driven fans away just by opening their mouths.
  11. Won't be long and one of the guys on the DL will let you know...😄
  12. Well, you can't watch them on TV. Their players are soft as charmin and hurt all the time. Their manager uses a spreadsheet to run his pitching staff. A year after their best postseason showing in years they lose players and add none all while complaining about not having enough money, etc. Flat out, they are boring and uninspiring to watch. I haven't watched more than about 3 innings this year and I love Twins baseball. Ownership, management and coaching has made them un-watchable. Couple that with the fact that hardly anyone has any disposable income anymore and it's the perfect storm. This team is going to severely struggle getting fans to come out to game this year. I don't feel bad for them. It's just flat out not good ball to watch or root for.
  13. I mean, everyone knew this was coming. Funny how beat writers, etc were writing stories about how this team could win the division. I mean they still might, but this level of effort is a direct reflection on the ownership, GM and Manager's effort level. Zero.
  14. How do we watch these greedy bastards if you have Youtube TV? Anyone know? How about Direct Tv? Or do you just have to pony up the extra to stream them? If so, I'm out on the season. What a terribly run franchise and so sad to see what they've done to their fans.
  15. Ok. Here is what I think without talking about Rocco. I think the owner wants to make more cuts. I think they are asking Falvey most likely to take over whatever it is that Levine did. I also think there will be more cuts to payroll and possibly the rest of the organization. The owners lost money the last few years. They flat out do not like taking losses. I can see them moving this as far downward as is possible for them to stay relatively relevant. And I also feel whoever negotiated this last TV deal and let the owner speak as he did before the season to pour cold water on it should have been fired. Maybe that was Lavine.
  16. Sounds like they are "right sizing" the front office too. They might as well get rid of Rocco while they are at it and just buy a more expensive IPAD that also can shuffle batting orders every game and make pitching or pinch hitting changes based upon the outcomes of any statistical analysis. This move does nothing for me. Unless he was the one in charge of the tv deals. Then by all means dump him.
  17. No chance IMO. There might be if they wanted to keep playing but it's kind of obvious they don't. Looks like they are all ready for the season to be done. Tired.
  18. I've said it beofre on here, but why not just have Buxton start his season in June or so. He won't make it past 80-100 games, so don't even try anymore. That or tell him in cases like this. Hey bud, it shows there is nothing wrong with your hip, so just get out there and play.
  19. Pretty sure no team gives up an ACE straight up for Lee. Maybe for the older type guys, but young controllable arms that profile as top of the rotation starters would take more I think. Would I? Yep, for some of those guys under 30 I would, even though it might be a mistake...
  20. Wait, what? A couple months? Have you or anyone else heard this? I knew that was a fairly bad injury, but I didn't think it was going to take him 2.5 months to recover. Does anyone have any updates to this???
  21. Loved watching Puck, Tori, and Buck play there. Also was fun to watch MAT out there last year. I agree, CF is one of, if not THE most important defensive positions on the diamond. Hoping Byron can stay healthy all year, even though I have my doubts, he is a real stud out there.
  22. Yes, but they have also traded for pieces they needed, not pieces they don't. This team needs pitching depth in the minors, Right now there is none. This team doesn't need outfielders. Especially corner outfielders. And that was the main piece this trade brought back. Also, if Polanco wasn't going to bring what you needed, what is wrong with trying to package him up for something you do need? A corner outfield prospect - yeah. A good reliever - actually like this. Eating the salary of a terrible pitcher - yuck.
  23. Well when you let go or trade most of your contact and OBP guys, this is bound to happen. Twins seem to be happy to swing for the fences at bat, after at bat. Not certain why there can't be some kind of change in approach here? Awful frustrating. Hopefully, the hits and HRs start to come. Because if you are striking out that much, you have to couple that with lots of extra base hits, etc. Being bad at both won't work and probably won't happen for too much longer. Season starting slump.... Ugg....
  24. 2B and move Julien to 1B. Why do I want Kiriloff at 1B? He is terrible there. Absolutely brutal and cost us at least 1 if not 2 games playing there in the playoffs last year. DH or RF for him. Between Polanco, Julien, Kiriloff, Kepler and Wallner you have 1B, DH, 2B, RF/LF. None are plus fielders except Kep. Also would have gotten some 3B starts. Probably some at SS as well. It's fine. It's over. I just don't understand why if you moved him, you didn't try to get pitching prospects back? We keep trading for corner outfield prospects all the time. Quite literally the easiest spot on the diamond to replace via cheap FA every year.
  25. Lewis, Julien, Polanco. That is how it went as far as productive hitters. Just silly that we'd call a guy that can hit that well and played a more than adequate 2B(much better than Julien) a bench player. PS Lee is hurt and also unknown. And like I said in another post, if you are trading some like Polanco and not gonna add pitching any other way, how about going after some pitching prospects that profile like the outfielder did instead of having 800 outfielders and no starting pitching prospects...
