  1. Any idea if Kody Funderburk is related to ex-Twins minor league slugger Mark Funderburk? Man, that guy was a monster in the minors for the Twins back in the day.
  2. Someone ought to get out the big razor and shave Sano's head. Maybe that will wake him up!
  3. Good to see Ben Rortvedt off to a good start in Fort Myers. I've always thought that he was going to be a keeper, one that could/should reach the majors eventually. I'll be watching his progress and wish him luck.
  4. I'd never noticed the name Andro Cutura before, but some nice recent stats, and what a great baseball name that is! You mentioned that he was a 7th round pick from 2014. How does he fit into the "prospect" list at this point? or is even considered someone that the organization thinks might potentially reach the majors?
  5. I agree. Baddoo was due! After such a slow start to the season I hope he starts putting it all together over the summer.
  6. Seeing the name Johnny Ard (from 1988) in the first paragraph brought back a lot of memories. I saw him pitch for Orlando when he was in the minors. Such high hopes for that kid, but yet another "hot" prospect who fizzled out and never made the big leagues. Just never can tell what will end up happening with these high school players, especially the pitchers.
  7. I'd been thinking a pitcher would be the Twins lone representative, but the way Rosario keeps playing ... hmm, he might be the one. Then again, if this teams starts to put it together, having two All-Star picks wouldn't be so far-fetched either.
  8. On the surface, or at least from my hackneyed perspective, Larnach looks like a rather underwhelming pick, one that doesn't move the needle either way for me. Lots of comparisons to Rooker, so I'm not sure what he offers that the Twins are looking for. Then again, as others have noted, the draft is indeed a crapshoot, so who really knows how these players will pan out over the next few years. All we can hope is that, as they did last year, the front office did their homework and targeted some players with true tools and potential.
  9. I had never heard of Bencomo before. Let's hope he has more starts like that one. But's he's no spring chicken. I checked online and saw that he's not 29 years old. So, not a hot young prospect ... but maybe a late bloomer?
  10. Yeah, some scary stats for Baddoo. Sure, the season is still young, but I had very high hopes for him. Has he had any injury concerns or what is the problem for him this year?
  11. Thumbs up from me too. Great article and roundup on the top prospects. I especially like the addition of the stats, both for the full season and the past 28 days. Looking forward to seeing this a regular feature.
  12. Great to read this reports from down on the farm, Keep 'em coming! And very gratifying to see many of our prospects playing well so far this year. Man, we need some good news during these trying days in Minnesota.
  13. If I'm not mistaken, Hu was traded for Kevin Jepsen late in the season (was that 2015?) when we were trying to strengthen our bullpen.
  14. Yeah, that's an "ouch" realization. Seeing that a rebuilding Detroit team is ahead of us in the standings (and managed by Gardenhire!) really, really hurts. I didn't think that things would go this wrong so quickly. But hey, that's the nature of baseball.
  15. Good to see Kohl Stewart back from being on the "temporary inactive list." That one puzzled me --- and worried me --- last week. Any idea what that was all about?
  16. It's a depressing thought (one of many I've had this week), and I know this is a VERY premature one, but I hope Buxton's future is not as a pinch runner and/or late inning defensive replacement. Double sign.
  17. Yeah, it would have been nice to see Buxton attempt a steal at that point. Then again, gotta have at least one hit to bring him home. Sign.
  18. I think it's gotta be a pitcher. Pressly or Berrios (if he has a string of quality starts next month) would be fun picks, but as Cody and others noted, it could end up being Fernando Rodney, mainly because he's the closer and is racking up some saves.
  19. Nick Anderson continues to impress for the Red Wings. As Steve mentioned, his ERA is now at 1.16. Wow! Any chance he could be called up this summer if the Twins need an extra arm in the bullpen?
  20. There is also John Hicks with the TIgers. Although after the Twins signed him a few years ago, I don't think he ever played a regular season game for the team. For Detroit this year he has also played first base. Now batting .279 with a .326 OBP -- but has 5 home runs and 17 RBI already.
  21. Overall, I'm pretty happy with this pitching staff. The starters are reliable for the most part, and even Lynn looks like he's shaping up. If Santana is remotely like his old self when he returns, that will inspire a lot more confidence. And hey, I like this bullpen too.
  22. Let Garver play more and take his lumps, or watch him show some improvement. Meanwhile, I also vote to give Astudillo a chance. After the Castro injury it's tempting to want to go out and find an upgrade at catcher, but I'm still not confident enough that the Twins are going to be playoff contenders this year. If someone good falls into our laps, take it, but I don't want to see any foolish trades at this point.
  23. Anemic batting about says it all. I think it may be to to shake things up again. Buxton can't even bunt or walk to get on base and show his speed. Once again, the strikeouts are adding up for him. What's the answer? Or is there one? Except for Rosario, no other hitter is in a groove right now. Another week of pitiful batting like this and I'll be adding to my profanity vocabulary.
  24. I'd like to see more season stats posted too. I'm too lazy to go to other sources for that information. If TD could include more of those stats with these minor league wrap-ups and articles that would be terrific.
