  1. Well, plenty of ifs and maybes in that game, but that great catch by Broxton, robbing Mauer of a homer, really really hurt!
  2. I think the Twins would be wise to at least float Gibson's name out there and see what other teams will offer. But I doubt we'd get much in the way of a "great" return, maybe a prospect or two, but certainly not another MLB player. For comparisons sake, what did we give to Tampa Bay for Odirizzi over the winter? Just one A-level player who wasn't even a top prospect. So,if we don't get offered much for him I think the Twins might as well hang on to him and hope his recent form continues. We might need that arm next year.
  3. If any teams needs pitching, offer them Lynn and/or Rodney. At least those two might bring back a reasonable return of a young prospect or two. Otherwise, we ain't got much to offer anyone. Dozier has definitely seen his value plummet and I don't think it's even possible that the Twins would try and trade Mauer. Guys like Grossman would have zero value. And I don't think Santana would tempt anyone unless he came back ASAP and started throwing shutouts.
  4. Oops, thanks for that reminder. I sometimes forget that's part of the waiver process. I hope we can hang on to the kid. Lots of potential there.
  5. I'm not a huge fan of Molitor as a manager, and I think we could easily find a better fit for the team. But I also think it's unfair to blame him for the performance of the team so far this year. Too many injuries and a suspension and other weirdness that's beyond his control.
  6. You wrote: they are however, second in pickoffs with 12. I'm nitpicking here (hey, I was an editor for a few years!), but shouldn't that be second in having runners picked off base, as opposed to having our pitchers excel at making pickoffs? I assume that's what you meant, but I had to read that a few times to figure it out.
  7. Shocked to see that Felix Jorge was released. What's the consensus on why that move was made? Not making any progress with his injury rehab or what? Man, I hope this isn't another Chargois-like move that the Twins will soon regret.
  8. I was becoming seriously worried about Mauer's bleak performance since he returned from the DL, but this was very nice to see! Yeah yeah yeah, only one game, but hopefully it will jump-start him and the rest of the team.
  9. Happy to see Astudillo finally promoted and given a chance. But how much will he actually play? I don't understand why Wilson is still being given so many starts behind the plate.
  10. I noticed in the Roster Moves that you posted the Twins signed Juan Graterol and assigned him to Rochester. My first thought; is he related to our Brusdar Graterol? And then I wondered why he is playing at AAA? Never heard of the guy before .But a quick net search revealed that he was recently with the Angels, among several other organizations. Looking at his Wikipedia page, he tends to get signed by teams and then put on waivers or released a month or two later, never actually having played for the club So ... what's the deal with this guy? No doubt roster filler since we now need another catcher at AAA, but does he have special attributes (hitting, pitch framing, etc.) that will make him worth keeping for a while?
  11. To continue striking out? Sorry, if that sounds snide and snarky. I always appreciate your posts, Seth, so I apologize in advance. But Buxton has me completely frustrated this year. Providing that he's rested and recovered, I hope another week of rehab will help straighten him out and maybe help him regain his confidence. But I'm starting to have serious doubts about Buxton.
  12. Okay, I realize that was a typo in that sentence ... but somehow that strikes me as a very appropriate comment! Yes, we should unload any deadwood we can and hope if creates opportunities for someone new that might potentially have a positive impact on this team.
  13. Sadly, that pretty much sums up where we are at right now.
  14. So many wonderful and memorable names among the new wave of Twins players, and Willie Joe Garry.is another one that just rolls off the tongue. Conversely, I also love the name Brusdar Graterol, but that one tend to wobble on my tongue and fall right off.
  15. Rodney has indeed been "Lights Out" this month. Of course, now that we are all realizing that's the case, he is due to self-destruct at any moment. Well, let hope not. But yeah, if the Twins look out of the race at this time next month, trade him while he's got some value.
  16. My mother actually withheld comment on that issue, although I could hear her mutter a subtle "tssk tssk" when the subject of his weight gain came up.
  17. You cursed him! He was doing so well and then he goes and has his worst outing of the year yesterday.
  18. Nice to see Griffin Jax pitching in the system finally. From all that I've read, he's a fine prospect, but I have to say that his name is a classic one!
  19. Getting a second chance to have Ramos back would be ideal. That's almost a no-brainer. I like Goodrum's versatility, but not sure how much he would play on this current team. Still, Call me crazy but I'd love to see Colon still on the team, if only for his colorful personality and dependability. And I'd love to take back that Aaron Hicks trade and get him back too.
  20. The Belisle implosion aside, three hits in this game and four hits in the previous one. We are not going to win many games with pathetic output like that.
  21. An impressive start! Maybe it's time to swap Mejia for Romero in the big league rotation?
  22. You're right. Probably no hurry to rush Gonsalves at this point, especially seeing as how he's struggling at bit at AAA this year. Hopefully, he just needs to make some adjustments and has no injury concerns.
  23. Sad to see that Zack Jones was released. I recall not so long ago when he was a hot prospect, and how much many people howled when he wasn't protected in that Rule 5 draft a few years ago. Baseball is such a cruel mistress.
