  1. What decided the game was scoring 2 runs…with about 7 guys sharing the blame equally for that. Embrace the futility. Nothing short of total and epic failure will get anything to change in this org.
  2. Buxton would be out year to year after that.
  3. I was watching him and didn’t notice one iota of change in approach. What meaningful can be accomplished in that short sample, at that level…except gaining confidence, which isn’t nothing. Maybe the mission was something more subtle…who knows? Look, if he hits 30+ HR a year with this approach, fine. It’s when you deploy the approach, and you pace at 10 HR a year…THAT is a problem. We’ll see what happens. IMO, he’s important enough in terms of future plans…making this season just fine for letting him figure it out (or not) at the only level that matters.
  4. To be fair, Martin’s 19 miles closer to the play.
  5. Nice! Just need another 30 pitches or so out of Zebby.
  6. Ironically we traded Cruz because Buxton couldn’t manage to play CF on a regular basis…or at all for long stretches of time.
  7. To be even more fair, he’s more of a AA guy, not AAA.
  8. If they think Lackey’s hit tool is legit, I’m good with this. I prefer a college guy. Seems like we’re good with high-ceiling 19 and 20 year old “possibilities” Would be nice to get someone that’s more of a “likely”…and can show up earlier, close to the Jenkins/Cullpepper wave.
  9. One, it’s too late to extend him. He’s going to test the market. And even a hard cap (as unlikely as that is) wouldn’t suppress the top end of the market. This is proven in Football, and something he and his agent are betting on. Two, the Twins won’t outbid everyone when he hits the market. Yes, you have to trade him.
  10. The notion that Lewis…a good athlete, with tons of experience at SS and 3B…can’t immediately play first base, is strange IMO. You see his type thrown over there all the time. And for THIS team?? In THIS season?? Absolutely no reason not to try it. Of course, it only makes you better if he hits.
  11. I get why Mauer never wanted to be traded. And honestly, that speculation didn’t manifest until very late, when he was of middling value at first base. Buxton is more of a needle-mover than he’s ever been. The return for him right now would dwarf what the org would’ve received for Mauer those last couple of years. Meanwhile, Buxton is in a completely different situation, with home-schooled kids, deep ties only in Georgia. It strikes me as completely odd that he wouldn’t ask for a trade to a contender at this point in his career, and given the state of the org. IMO, this goes beyond loyalty.
  12. Strange as it sounds, I agree with those that say he hasn’t made any adjustments. If you watch him, he’s trying to pull everything, taking advantage of AAA pitching and small ballparks by hitting home runs and doubles…exclusively pull, exclusively pitches middle-in. The pitches major league pitchers refuse to give him. Still, bring him up. If nothing else, he may have gained some confidence, and will succeed more often when he does get the pitch he’s looking for. My long-term expectations remain severely muted until I see a change in approach. Maybe even more failure is required for him to revert to what we saw his first couple years. And this season would be the year to tolerate that process.
  13. “…Mlodzinski would be all but guaranteed a rotation spot with Minnesota for the rest of the 2026 season, potentially playing an integral role in the club’s ability to return to the postseason for the first time since 2023.” Oh, most definitely YES! It makes all the sense in the world for the Twins to be buyers this year! 🙄 Let’s ask them which prospects they want.
  14. He isn’t rated in the top 3 because he’s a catcher. He’s there because he’s been raking for 2 years now in the best college conference there is, AND he’s a good defensive prospect at the position, also considered athletic. Never guaranteed with any of these guys that it translates to the majors…but the guys that are showing significant warts at this point in their development…the high ceiling but lowish floor guys…even if they’re catchers, don’t get ranked this high. I’m pulling for one of the college guys. If Lackey, fine.
  15. Except the Twins are in a situation where it would be nice to not have to wait for a high schooler. With that in mind, I fully expect Emerson to fall to them. If so, don’t discount the chance of the Twins going under slot and taking someone else, and shooting for a very high upside HS arm with their second pick. Because….Twins.
  16. This isn’t a thing. It’s just a way to leverage optionable guys…especially guys they feel are maybe only one-time-through-the-lineup guys at this point in development…in a way that acclimates them a bit slower/easier to the majors. And it hopefully shortens the game for the bullpen for that particular game. Not a strategy. Maybe works here and there. Something you’ll do here and there if you have multiple starters injured/out. The juggling required is unsustainable. Prielipp has been throwing 80-90+ pitches since he’s been up…5-6 innings when effective. If…or as soon as, they have similar confidence in Rojas, I expect they’ll ask/expect him to start doing the same. The Twins might favor this in the minors for workload management, roster management, evaluation, whatever…but even they aren’t incompetent enough to pretend this is a viable 26-man major league strategy. Right???
  17. Slightly below average; slightly below average; bad; really bad; really bad Done.
  18. I don’t feel sorry for you (or me😉)…it’s the poor laddies born after the eighties that have been brainwashed into believing that possibly stumbling into a 6th seed in the postseason is a righteous goal
  19. He heard he might be a TD top 10 prospect in the next update.
  20. Come on…there’s zero chance the Twins make an offer that convinces Ryan to not hit the open market after ‘27. Even a potential hard cap isn’t going to lower the market appreciably for front line starters….look at the premium positions in the NFL. I guess there is one chance…if Ryan has a significant injury in 2026 which significantly impacts his availability or effectiveness. Kinda like Buxton getting close to free agency after a couple of years of basically not playing, and accepting the discounted Twins offer out of FOMO. Not something to hope for.
  21. If so, Buxton is still on second after the walk to Lee. And if 1st base is open Lee gets walked on purpose. Buxton doesn’t score in that inning regardless. No harm. One of Bell and Clemens had to get a hit either way. And down by 3 in the 8th Keaschall has to 1000% sure.
  22. NL Central standings don’t really mean anything until they’ve all had a chance to play the Twins, right?
  23. No clue where the strike zone is. But then again neither do Caratini or our hitters, apparently.
  24. “It could be worse” is our rallying cry here.
