  1. I am completely with you on this Jham. If the Twins are able to resign Plouffe for a team friendly contract, trade Dozier for something valuable I feel better about infield defense heading into next season.
  2. So would there be any scenario where you would consider keeping Plouffe for 2017(even to trade him before next year's deadline)? What if Dozier is traded and Polanco slides to 2B, Escobar to SS, and Plouffe, Sano, Mauer do the 1B, DH, 3B rotation (let's pretend Park doesn't exist).
  3. I noticed that too that in ~7 years of professional ball he is at around .900. I feel better about letting Plouffe go, with Polanco, Escobar and possibly Mauer as plan B options if Sano's defense doesn't improve next year.
  4. I apologize if there has already been several discussions around this topic, but I think that the timing of Plouffe returning and possibly being put on waivers during the month of August makes this a good talking point. What if the Twins move Plouffe which most of us expect, and Sano continues to be a butcher at 3b? Is the backup plan to have Escobar play 3b and Polanco play SS? That puts below average fielders at 2B (Dozier) and SS (Polanco). I know players often times show significant improvment on the defensive side, but something about Sano's defensive numbers in the minors and what we have seen this year make me think his position might end up being 1B or DH.
  5. Another reason to Trade Dozier and give Polanco a shot at 2b. If Escobar can stay healthy I think the Twins need to keep him until there is a better option from within the system.
  6. Let the trades start soon please. The team has been fun to watch for the past 3 weeks which is all I'm asking for this year and next. Trading Suzuki is almost a no brainier to me. Also the time is now to trade Dozier. His value might be at a high water mark and let's get some pitching or a catcher in return (even solid AA).
  7. I agree with the sentiment of seeing what he can do as a starter. If Nolasco and next year Hughes need to be in the bullpen to add value, then so be it.
  8. I like the idea, but I think we might be over estimating Santana's value. He is getting old, gets paid quite a bit, and he has a black cloud over him from the PED suspension. I think the Twins would have to be willing to eat contract for Ervin as well and I would rather see the Twins keep him and eat contract on Nolasco.
  9. I don't think Jim or Bill would have purchased this team if they had not inherited from their parents. That being said with the correct GM and front office staff, they would be pretty good owners.
  10. I think it is a stretch to correlate one coach getting a DUI to the poor play being caused by excessive drinking. From what I understand beers in the clubhouse and drinking on the road are fairly common for most MLB teams.
  11. Hmm that seems like a stretch to link this wretched season to players consuming too much alcohol.
  12. I agree with you and I have enjoyed watching Milone when he has good games. He had quite a few last year and if he is pitching well again, let's get him on track here and then possibly trade him or keep him.
  13. Time will tell with all of these guys but at least with Santana and Rosario we have seen flashes of both offensive and defensive goodness. I really have no clue whether Kepler will pan out but he seems to have the tools. I want to see Buxton succeed, but I am no longer confident that he will be a star. If the Twins are able to get a good return, I think they should consider it.
  14. What kind of return could Buxton generate now? A long term outfield of Rosario, Santana, and Kepler sounds good for 2017. I have more faith in all three of these players being complete players than I do in Buxton, but maybe something is going to click soon.
  15. I can't imagine what the clubhouse, flight/road environment is like for this team. Hopefully they are pissed off. Who's going to take a bat to the sunflower seed dispenser??
  16. You may be right, but Carl got pretty weird there starting in the late 90's with threatening to move or contract...or maybe that was Jim starting to take over the reigns. Either way, I do not think the current problem is related to Jim not wanting to pay for talent, but rather Terry Ryan making poor decisions.
  17. I will take Jim P over Carl as owner of my beloved Twins any day. Jim is willing to spend money on this team, but unfortunately he has placed too much trust in Terry Ryan and maybe Dave St. Peter. I am not sure what it is going to take to inject some new leadership, but I am guessing a 120 loss season may do that.
  18. Me too. I still like him, but those that pointed out his lack of plate discipline were right. I am hoping he turns it around because he's a special athlete.
  19. Hughes becomes the closer and Nolasco the 8th inning guy. Our bullpen just became expensive, but it should be better. I know it's a really horrible idea.
  20. You forgot Torii Hunter at 120-1
  21. If Sano shows he can handle 3B this is a great revelation. Based on his minor league stats, I didn't think it was likely but color me impressed.
  22. I hope Dozier and the Twins have a great season. I also hope the Twins trade Dozier during the offseason and go young (Polanco).
  23. I wonder what the Twins could have received for Dozier in the offseason. His game and stats remind me a lot of Dan Uggla.
  24. Welcome back to one of the best Skips the Twins have had.
  25. I agree with what you are saying except Gardenhire was not the problem. Do you think Gardenhire wanted to part ways with Torii Hunter, Koskie, and Ortiz? Gardenhire got very good performance with the players he had in my opinion. Since 1991, Terry Ryan has been responsible for two very long draughts of talent.
