  1. Does 2 year 12 million sound possible/realistic?
  2. I agree it's time to try this as well as starting to decrease Hunter's ABs.
  3. If they want to try to extend May in a few relief appearances and then give him starts it would make sense now. Or bring up Berrios and let May begin next year as a starter. I think the Twins did the right thing (keeping Pelf in the rotation earlier when they were solidly in the hunt), but now they should go to plan b. It's tough watching the rotation struggling now along with the offense.
  4. Not sure why all the hate for Pefrey here, but he obviously had a horrible start. His season has been decent though and his start before this one was excellent. If you want to trade him via waivers let him get another good start or two. He was flat out better than May as a starter this year and he gave the Twins a better chance to contend for a wild card spot.
  5. I think Pelfrey's performance has been a positive for this season. I think he would probably be in the rotation for a good number of teams in the playoff race. If the Twins aren't going to offer him after the season, they should be able to get some valuable pieces via a waiver trade.
  6. Good point on the Uggla to Dozier comparison. I do recall now that Uggla's defense was pretty Uggly (sorry for bad pun). Dozier is superior on defense.
  7. Let's not get carried away with Dozier. He is a good player who is having a very good year. Do you think Dozier projects to have a better career or almost as good as Uggla? Look at Uggla's first 6 years and I would be happy if Dozier's next 5 years are that good, but I think this is going to be Dozier's peak (.250 average with 20-30 homeruns) which is very good especially considering his above average defense. Someone else mentioned that he probably wouldn't return a front of the line starter or a very high offensive prospect due to the number of very good second basemen in the game right now.
  8. He is the best option right now. He is having a good season (very good compared to the rest of the offense). I'm definitely in the minority here and maybe even the only one on the board that would consider trading him. I think his value would be high in the off season, he could return some good talent, and there are some talented options to slide over to 2B.
  9. Massive list? Do you mean May and Berrios? Anyone else? We hope Berrios will be a top of the rotation guy, and May will still get his chance. Maybe you are right and Nolasco will be back, Santana, Hughes, and Gibson will all be healthy, leaving the Twins with a plethora of SP options, but I would at least have the conversation with Pelfrey (let him compete for a starting role and accept bullpen role with a positive attitude if he is bested).
  10. I think you are right because Dozier's is currently being marketed as the star of the team. He is a good player, but not a guy that a great team is built around. He is also at a position of flexibility (more so than 3rd base I'd argue). I'm not trying to be rankle people with Dozier/Plouffe talk, but trying to think of options to make room for guys like Kepler.
  11. Pelfrey might very well not want to sign with the Twins again, but I would still have the conversation with him and offer a reasonable contract. Good to know on Milone still being under team control. It's not the current Twins have a bullpen like the Royals. Why not consider keeping these two guys around letting some of the marginal bullpen guys get bumped off the team?
  12. I agree with you on both counts (freshinthehouse). Polonco did not look fluid at all while playing SS for two games, but he should be able to hand 2b. Rosario could always slide back to 2b and I'm guessing he would be a + defender there as well.
  13. Getting some more productive bats has to be the highest priority in the next 6 months. Thank goodness for Sano and you have to think he would have been ready early last season if it hadn't been for the elbow injury. Dozier and Plouffe are both good players, but neither of them are ever going to have a high OBP guys. Would you consider trading Dozier or Plouffe in the offseason for a big return? How big would it have to be?
  14. Pelfrey isn't a big problem for this team right now and I wouldn't mind if he and Milone were both signed for next year as well. If Berrios and May continue to develop Pelfrey could move to the bullpen, but after 4 years it's nice to actually have some capable pitchers.
  15. The Jays are throwing everything they can at this season, but Colabello would have to clear a lot of teams (via waivers) to make it to the currently playoff bound Twins.
  16. If Ryan is going to do something major I think it's going to involve Plouffe. Given his track record of trading AJ when Mauer was ready to assume the catching role and trading Dougie when Morneau was ready to assume 1b leads me to believe that he would follow a similar pattern. Maybe the timing wouldn't be right though with Plouffe and his wife just having a baby (do GM's consider this type of thing?).
  17. It has been a glaring weakness for sure. Garza was a guy that we all thought would be successfully and he has been good. I suppose Bad Brad Radke would qualify as a very good starter for a number of years. But yeah it has been a long dry spell.
  18. The Tigers are 3 games out of the Wild Card. Does this tell us that Dombrowski feels his team needs prospects fast to avoid a 5 year downturn once V Martinez, Verlander, and Cabrera start to decline? I would jump for joy if the Twins landed Soria and Price. I really hope the Twins do not include Rosario in any trades.
  19. So trading bad contract for slightly less bad contract. The Twins would be relieved of Nolasco and get Shields for 3 years and $33 million. I'm not sure how the Nolasco's insurance policy would factor in, but Shields should still be an above average SP for the next three years.
  20. Is there any upside to this at all besides not having to watch the current Nolasco pitch? Will the Twins get any insurance settlement based on the ankle or elbow injuries this year?
  21. 2016 Outfield of Mauer, Buxton, and Rosario please.
  22. I'm a Milone believer and if it wasn't for the Nolasco contract I would like to see him replace Ricky. Option 1 and let May continue to progress in Triple A.
  23. Sorry this is probably not the time to or the place, but wouldn't it be nice to have Nelson Cruz at this point?
  24. I'm not concerned enough yet to think he can work through this and become the guy at SS. Let him play through it like the rest of the lineup.
  25. Can't we go back to the dang 70's when Doc Ellis' PED was LCD?
