  1. Jon Singleton was called up by the Brewers yesterday. He's the former Astros prospect who signed a 5 year, $10M contract in 2014 before ever playing in big league game. He's 31 years old now and hasn't played in the majors in over seven years. https://www.mlb.com/news/brewers-jon-singleton-returns-to-mlb-for-first-time-since-2015
  2. Mlb.com posted this article about Pablo López: "Maybe the most interesting man in baseball." The quote I got a kick out of: "By the time Seattle offered me to sign in July 2012, the same college my parents went to accepted me into medical school," López said. "As a 16-year-old, it was a tough decision to make." https://www.mlb.com/news/pitcher-pablo-lopez-was-almost-a-doctor
  3. They didn't. He had the surgery nine days after his last start.
  4. Is the remainder of his $750K contract void if he were to elect free agency in that case?
  5. According to Spotrac, the 2024 vesting option includes a $1M buyout. So a team option with a buyout if he doesn't reach 550 plate appearance.
  6. I'm not hearing any audio for this report. Earlier reports are fine, so it's not me.
  7. I imagine he'll be optioned to start 2024 when he returns from Tommy John. He's only pitched a few games above class A ball.
  8. To be clear, the NY Post article says that Boras has checked in with other teams. Twins are one of the teams "in contact" with Boras. The article doesn't say that the Twins "have contacted" Boras. Boras seems to be reaching out to the Twins, not visa versa.
  9. Is this referring to this morning's article in the Atlantic? I don't have a subscription, but from the title it appears to be a recap of the winter meetings. It doesn't seem like Aaron Gleeman is breaking news with a report of a new offer.
  10. I wonder if the Pohlad family has ever used the code "Gleeman" when purchasing something.
  11. Clubs draft in reverse order of the standings from the previous season. Twins and Red Sox tied for the thirteenth lowest winning percentage in 2022. https://www.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/rule-5-draft
  12. I still have 500 riel from a trip I took to Cambodia decades ago. Carlos can have that too. Hopefully he doesn't check the exchange rate.
  13. According to MLB.com, Varland was sent down to AAA today.
  14. La Velle E Neal states that there have been at least two "reports" that Correa has decided to opt out after this season. La Velle doesn't identify the sources though. https://www.startribune.com/carlos-correa-35-1-million-contract-hasn-t-done-enough-lavelle-neal/600199934/
  15. Last year, the Astros sent Alex Bregman on a second rehab assignment when the team concluded he wasn't ready at the end of his initial 20-day rehab window. He had to sit out five days and then began the second assignment. That's another possibility for Sano, depending on how he progresses. https://www.mlb.com/news/alex-bregman-set-for-minor-league-rehab-assignment
  16. And the years before and after the Twins took Gorden, they selected Kohl Stewart and Tyler Jay with the fourth and sixth overall picks. So yes it could definitely be worse.
  17. Sonny Gray to throw a bullpen session on Friday. May return to the rotation next week. https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/twins-sonny-gray-set-to-throw-extended-bullpen/
  18. It also just means that two other players will become the union rep and assistant rep. Nothing will change in that respect.
  19. For those games he is able to play in, he makes the pitching staff better.
  20. The post title says "Part 1." I assume there is a "Part 2" on it way.
  21. Darren Wolfson tweeted at the time of the signing that Law's minor league deal includes an opt out provision. The opt out date isn't stated.
  22. I was wondering if anybody would catch it.
  23. Glenn Borgmann Jim Holt Vic Albury Ray Corbin Dick Woodson Joe Decker Grady Alderman
  24. According to this post on MLB Trade Rumors, Hardy has an opt out in June. The actual date isn't listed. There's also an opt out provision if he receives an opportunity to pitch abroad. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/11/twins-to-sign-blaine-hardy.html
