  1. Mauer had tons of criticism and now on to Sano. That was my comparison. My point is let’s enjoy the season. I think Sano’s talent will come. Too early to keep harping on him like many did to Mauer.
  2. Is Sano the next Mauer? The one people will love to hate. Goodness we have an awesome team now. Just what we have been waiting for. Can't everyone just enjoy this then to try to find faults and flaws in what is a pretty talented player. Maybe just a year or two and then get back to the moaning and groaning and complaining.
  3. Hicks was my favorite.
  4. I have liked Sano since the first time I he played. I thought he was doing good 11runs scored and 10 RBIs in 12 games. He seems to have at least one or 2 game changing HRs so far too.
  5. In the workplace if you knew a co-worker was making 10x more than you and contributed the same or less it would be toxic. It is human nature.
  6. That pitching was awesome. As dangerous as Buxton's wall crash was it fun to watch back. Looked like a cartoon where the character splats up against the wall.
  7. I am a believer because they are all believers. We haven't had this type of energy from a team since the M&M days. It may not be roses and HR's every game but this team believes in themselves and each other.
  8. Twins still don't get much love from MLB.com. Rarely an article on the front page.
  9. First of all did they cut the number of articles you can read per month from 10 to 2? Fine with me I wouldn't pay that newspaper ten cents to have unlimited the whole year for other reasons than sports. I think writing that about Mauer really wasn't needed even though many probably wonder how much it has to do with how this team is doing now. They have many of the same players they are just a really gelled team now. There are no favorites and they seem to feed off each other. No pitcher want to be the first to lose and the hitters want to be part of the incredible HR stats. I think having Cruz as a leader for our mostly Latino team helps and as much as I loved Dozier he was really a drag on this team all of last year and half of the two years before. No team should be playing someone in that long of a funk. I think things would have gone better if Mauer would have learned right field instead of 1st. It was obvious we needed a power-hitting 1st baseman for the last 3-4 years. His OBP was great and he deserved a place in the line up for sure. Having a true DH instead of cobbling together different players has also helped. Not sure what has influenced Sano and Buxton but keep it coming whatever it is. I think all players know that there are plenty of options on the bench if they are not giving 110% and this new management doesn't seem to be a group that will play someone just because of past accomplishments. I am so excited and having so much fun watching this team. I can't wait for the day's Berrios pitches and every at bat anything is possible.
  10. I think it is good competition within the team. They all know there is someone who could take their place. In the past it really didn't matter how well you played because it seemed more like a favorites thing. Now it seems you produce and you play, doesn't matter who you are or what the name is on the back of the jersey. Plus Baldelli has real DH's and power hitting first baseman to choose from. That is what I think the difference is. I always thought Dozier was the leader of the clubhouse but seems he threw in the towel last year. We have more than one player this year that has picked it up. Plus they are having fun, running and dancing off the field with a win most times, better than the heads hanging as they left the field the last 10 years.
  11. It was just a question. I do not claim to be an expert just wondering if there was a way to make more room for the younger players.
  12. Can they get anything for Kepler, Adrianza, Cave or Austin?
  13. Nice that 17 hits in 2 days seem not so good this year. Love it. Last year 17 hits in 3 games would have been something. Gotta love this team!
  14. Nice to have power all throughout the line-up. The last few years we had barely any unless Dozier was on a hot streak or Sano was hitting but Dozier didn't have any streaks last year and Sano was not there too much. I am thankful for power hitting at 1st and a real DH. Last year wasn't that split by Mauer and Grossman?
  15. I always wondered how different this team would be if we had a true DH and power hitting 1st baseman. Many said Mauer, Grossman and the many DH's we had last year had a good OBP and that should be just as good.
  16. I am excited! This coaching staff seems to know how to get the best out of the players. Most of the players are the same except for now having a power hitting 1st baseman and a real DH. I loved Dozier but the last 3 years were tough but they kept putting him in the line-up. 2 of his last 3 years he had an entire bad half of a year and last year it seem the whole year was tough on him. I also think there is more consistency in the line-up. Over the past few years it was mixed up every night. They seem to have a team leader in Cruz and accountability. They all know there are others who can take their spots away. It just seems like a good team.
  17. I still have such a hard time understanding how a cut on your foot can keep you out for such a long time. Did it cut through the muscle?
  18. In NY there is just a different culture than when Hicks was here. As long as you produce you are good but if you don't watch out. There are high expectations not only from the fans but the manager and teammates as well. MN didn't have that culture. Seemed to me it was based on if the manager like you or not and if you were outspoken it did not go well for you.
  19. Berrios for me but you only see him once maybe twice a week. People know the name Sano and if he comes back strong that is who I would go with. Rosario really brings out the spirit of the team but not sure he is a MN household name yet. But there is also Buxton who most likely known to most fans.
  20. There was an article by the Yankees GM or Manager about Hicks being the most underrated player in the MLB. He is good and just didn't get there here. Not sure he would have been given the chance under Molitor. Maybe now but it is too late for that.
  21. It seems that they are feeding off each other and that is a good sign for the team as a whole. Also they know they have to play well to stay in the lineup. That has been missing for a long time. There have been 3-4 favorites always in the lineup regardless of how they played.
  22. Nice to see the players earning and keeping their places in the line-up or on the field. The last few years some players could be on a 2 month slump or 2 week and stay in line-up and some would have a good week one bad day and then back to the bench. Escobar was the exception last year they could not find a reason to bench him once he got going. Also nice to see run support for the pitchers.
  23. I am not in a panic mode. I am excited to watch each game so far. I think the hitting can pick up the pitching when needed. Seems they have a good core and motivated team. I don' really have play-off expectations but don't think they will lose 100 either. I could be a good year to watch and next year EXPECT to go far in the play-offs.
  24. The attendance for the Toronto series was pathetic. He probably has a lot more on his mind. I think it was around 41,000 for all 4 games. The stands look pitiful when you watch on TV
  25. How long do you think the Nationals will let Dozier play with how he is doing? Will they let him have a bad first half and keep playing?
