  1. I get the if guys are producing but there were many that did not and they didn't get the bench or sent down. Dozier sadly had a terrible year, Kepler had a tough one, Morrison horrible and even Mauer had some bad streaks. I just feel like certain players didn't get nearly the chances.
  2. I am probably going to get a big thumbs down or worse but....to me it seems like they either do not want to or do not know how work with the Latino players. Seems like they are easily benched for sent down if they have one or two bad games, while Dozier could have a half season of poor play and still be in the line-up every day. Kepler maybe should have seen the bench a few more times. Morrison got way more time then he deserved. Maybe the Latino players to not feel like they will be given the same chances? Vargas up and down and no consistent playing time. Romero was doing well enough to be here at the end of the year to play.. Even Esocbar wouldn't have been given many chances w/o all the injuries. Can someone explain how the let Vargas go, brought him back and never gave him a chance even at the end of the year when there was nothing left to lose.
  3. Didn't we get a new stadium so we could afford a few high level talented players? Maybe there is no one to get or no one that will come to MN.
  4. So fill in until someone in the minors is ready? Cave, Austin, Kepler are not the players I would think of to replace Mauer. We may get a couple more HR's but we need way more than that. We need at least Rosario numbers there.
  5. Bring in a player that can hit 30+ home runs with 100+ RBI's. We don't always have to try to patch something together and hope it works. I know a bit of an exaggeration but my point is to get a great player not just someone who can fill in.
  6. It was 12 but that is what I remember about him most, coming out of no where to get that one hit or HR. He was like Mr. Dependable, you could count on him when you needed a hit.
  7. Since next year may be similar to this I would not keep Odorizzi and bring up Romero instead.
  8. Suzuki just got a 2 RBI single for the Braves. He had an okay year. Was he another player they misjudged or didn't want to pay? He ended up with .271, 20 HRs and 50 RBIs for the year.
  9. That was swift and so unlike the Twins. Sad to see it happen but it is probably for the best. Are they going to take Morris away too? Three MN icons in one week?
  10. Why do we always talk about going after the older players hoping for at least one more good season. It would be nice to have a really good player locked in. I do think Buxton and Sano will come back and be close to what we were expecting. I love Berrios and Romero with Gibson. I wish if they give any "older" player another shot that it would be Santana. I would agree with most and move Polanco to 2nd and get Escobar at SS. Sano is decent at 3rd. The really good player would be power hitter at 1st. Sign another good player for DH. I think the outfield is good with Rosario, Buxton and Kepler. I don't even know what they can do for the BP and a 5th starter.
  11. Announcers just said the Brewers manager played all his cards and it made me think we had a season without a single face card and a couple of jokers.
  12. If Mauer retires he went out still being a good MLB player and on his terms. Dozier on the other hand may be out and not on his terms and that is really sad. I think that my have been Belisle's last game too.
  13. As much as I liked Dozier as a Twin and team leader. He consistently had at least one bad half year and last year was a total melt down for him. Escobar was as much a leader but I don't think he would want to come back here. If they can't find a good to great SS then why not try Lewis. He could surprise everyone and be the next Trout.
  14. I cried 3 times. That was super emotional and glad that if it ended it was at home. It sure seemed like his mind is made up.
  15. I don't think Dozier is playing much anymore. His numbers are sad. What does this mean for his free agency? Will he even get a job? This is so sad.
  16. He never got a chance to play consistently. Why did they let him go and then get him back?
  17. I think if Vargas would have been brought up sooner and given a chance he could have been good.
  18. I feel like we leave players in the minors way to long. We don't have a DH or 1st base power hitter. We don't have a consistent day in day out line-up IMO they need to bring back Santana as a mentor for pitchers, especially the Latino pitchers. They lose patience with some (Hicks, Sano, Buxton, Santana) and way to patient from others (Dozier, LoMo, Kepler, Gibson). I can't think of any player that will be up for any awards this year. Last but not least that always sticks in my head is the fact that they needed Target Field to be able to field a competitive team. We have only had one since they moved. Plenty more before that.
  19. I would be happy next year having a consistent line-up. Instead of a mix-match every single game. I think getting a power hitting 1st and DH would fill most gaps. We need to let Sano and Buxton improve or fail on a whole year of playing before we let them go. Infield: Sano, Polanco, Lewis, at least and all star worthy 1st or DH or best both. OF can be Rosario, Buxton and Kepler. Starting pitching Berrios, Romero, Gibson, keep Santana, and find 2 more. I don't think it should be Odorizzi. Bullpen is hard to determine Rogers is the only memorable pitcher there. It has been years since they sent out the same line-up I miss those days.
  20. I would say first a consistent line-up. Guys who know they will play every day and fans can count on. Starting with a typical power hitting 1st baseman who bats 4th or 5th. Move Polanco to 2nd and up in the batting order, SS I would go with Lewis and get him started (let's try for once to get them while they are young and learn to play at this level), 3rd Sano. Catching someone who can call a good game and throw. Outfield Rosario batting 3rd, Buxton batting 1st. A real true DH or 2. One for lefties and one for righties. Right field Kepler should be fine. So we have 5 pieces so far?
  21. I read injured. But regardless something was wrong. How does a “veteran” get that bad over one winter.
  22. Seems we got the better end of the Dozier trade but how did they not know he was injured all year?
  23. If you can try to see the positives it would be Berrios, Romero and Rogers for pitching. Santana perhaps if they bring him back, but that would cost money so I don't see that happening. Are there any big name free agent pitchers? Would the Twins pursue them? Would they want to come to MN? I can't even see this team contending for at least 5 years and that is a big question mark.
  24. Well we kind of looked forward to see what we had in the minors. A tad disappointing at least from what I can see at least for the pitching. If they can't pitch to KC who can they pitch to?
