5. Road Rage – On my way home from work yesterday… some guy was texting and driving and he drifted into my lane so I shouted at him, “Stop texting and pay attention!” He shouted back… “Go to Hell!” and took off down the road. I walked into the house and told my wife that I was just told to go to hell by a crazy driver and she replied… “And you came straight to me.”

 

Sounds like RB has taught Mrs. RB well.

Whether the Twins take 1 or 2 in San Diego, imo this is a great opportunity for Molitor to get the less experienced relief pitchers (Moya!?, Tonkin, Curtiss, etc) more seasoning and to give Buesnitz, Hildy, Rogers, Belisle somewhat of a break. After splitting the KC series it just seems like the perfect time for someone new to step up and contribute!

Legend has it that a couple of Scandinavian settlers named the town. They were out wondering around the flat prairie for a couple of weeks looking for a place to settle when one of them spotted a rise on the horizon. "WTF is that?" Ole asked, pointing at the rise. Lars scratched his, uh, tender parts and answered "Hills?"

 

Truth be told, Hills-Beaver Creek was the home of one of Minnesota's winningest (sp) high school basketball coaches, Hugo Goehle, selected for the the MN Coaches Hall of Fame back in the late 1980's. Hugo completely changed his offense and defense every half. So opposing coaches came in with a game plan for the first half and a prayer book for the second half. Besides being a master strategist, Hugo was a class act and a real gentleman. I've never been whupped by a nicer guy. Hard to find coaches like that anymore.

 

By the way, it's a little known Wikipedia fact that Hills' racial breakdown includes .01% Pacific Islander.

I've been in Hills a few times and they have a pond that probably seems like the ocean if you live in SW Minny.

 

Rock county is one of four counties, in Minny, with no natural lakes. That makes any body of water a big deal, even having a bathtub is a big deal.

 

Hills has never been hit by a hurricane, however.

Let's hope that's because the Twins have 5-7 run leads in each game.  Now is not the time to be resting your best pitchers....though, in the Twins bullpen, 'best' is a very loose term.

And San Diego and Hills have both won the exact same number of professional sports championships.

 

Damn, Hills has been pretty impressive in their long history (professional indoor soccer is still professional!!)

I take my whuppings like a man; I run to the nearest bar and cry in my beer... maybe beat up on a pygmy... though they're in short supply.

So this week is a big test. We are expected to win most of these games. If we don't we probably don't make the postseason and probably don't deserve to.
