Five runs. Should be enough for Pelf. Question is whether to let him start the ninth.

The ninth what? Batter he faces next inning?

Now Florimon's just piling on.
I wish he'da stayed at the plate and admired it a bit.

I wonder how many the Twins would have scored if Hermann didn't sacrifice?

Zero. Study after study has proven that the sac bunt is the best play in baseball, increasing run expectancy by about 2 every time it is called.

Fair enough.

But if shame be the instrument of thine governance, it is only fair that you should know that my family (Love Ya!)-free day off began with a brief but intense internal debate about the effort cost/benefit ratio of taking out the trash with or without pants.

Dick did say any runs that inning would be "the most satisfying the Twins have scored in weeks," because of the presence of a sacrifice.

So I think we should focus less on how many, and more on how they make us feel.

And?

Don't leave us...uh...hangin'...here brother. How was the debate resolved?

Dick once said that it's better for a team to bunt a guy to 3rd, then drive him in with a sac fly, than to hit a solo HR.

Yes, I am not lying, he actually said that 1 run that costs 2 outs is better than 1 run that costs 0 outs.

My money's on the trash didn't get taken out.

I'd like to see MLB move to a system where a pro rassler comes out and pile drives a manager who sac bunts before the 8th inning.

How else? By eyeballing the declination and hour of the across-the-street neighbor's motion-activated security camera, estimating the odds that it would gather incriminating evidence against me, eating a Double Whopper with Cheese, and then flipping a coin.

How do you play?

Taken out, yes... but... where?

Don't worry, your back yard is perfectly safe, as far as my PED-addled brain can say.

That's what the other manager is for.

I thought that's what TD is for.

Not sold on Roenicke. At all. I don't actually care enough about him to study his body of work one plate appearance at a time. But my hypothesis is he builds up a good WHIP and other stats in inconsequential situations. Which, I suspect, most studies show isn't the case for 99% of pitchers. But I still suspect, and dread.

It's Al where the hell is the strike zone Alburquerque.

Dozier was the only one in the inning to find one well enough to put into play.
