ashbury Verified Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 ...and Bruce Willis's character was dead the whole time in the Sixth Sense. I think you were five minutes late when you went to see it in the theater.
James Verified Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 ...and Bruce Willis's character was dead the whole time in the Sixth Sense.Wait... What? Oh man, I must have missed that part.
James Verified Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Apparently, the Twins need to find more pitcher from independent leagues.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Ward, weren't you a little hard on the beaver last night?Good thing it's past the kids' bedtime.
Gibby Provisional Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Albers reminded me of my Peewee hockey debut.
James Verified Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Albers reminded me of my Peewee hockey debut. You pitched 8.1 innings in Peewee Hockey? I think you were doing something wrong.
buckninetyone Provisional Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 When puns are outlawed, only outlaws will be punished. ashbury, i'm coming to get you!
Gibby Provisional Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 You pitched 8.1 innings in Peewee Hockey? I think you were doing something wrong. Hey, I had a hat trick against Richfield, and I didn't move to Minnesota and learn to skate until I was five. These guys had 3 years on me.
ThePuck Provisional Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Albers reminded me of my Peewee hockey debut. So he didn't look good?
Gibby Provisional Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 So he didn't look good? He forgot the foil.
ThePuck Provisional Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 So, should he have been allowed to finish the game?
Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Wow, what a feely good game to watch. A real nice change for once. Good for the Canuk!
ThePuck Provisional Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 I never get to see the post-game comments (I have mlb.tv which cuts off immediately) but I hope they press Gardy on why he gave Albers the hook. our MEDIA? the few times the media has dared press him on an issue he demeans the guy asking with smart-allecky responses as if to say how dare you, mere mortal, questions my tactics...weakest group of reporters in baseball attend Gardy's postgame interviews.
ThePuck Provisional Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 I thought he really got after it out there tonight. Battled his tail off, attacked the zone, pitched ahead in the count, and kept the ball down. And the MOST important thing, he didn't walk anybody AND he kept the strikeouts down.
Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Gardy said he thought he looked gassed out there so used the hook. But he heaped a ton on praise on him.
ThePuck Provisional Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Gardy said he thought he looked gassed out there so used the hook. But he heaped a ton on praise on him. That's one of Gardy's go to phrases. Has 100 or more pitches, gonna pull him cause he must be gassed and it's a good excuse to use. I have no idea whether he should have been pulled or not...I have no idea whether or not he was gassed...didn't watch the game...but Gardy says that kind of thing all the time and plenty of times the pitcher didn't look to be gassed at all. Not at all. Just because a guy hits 100 pitches and walks his first batter of the entire game, doesn't mean he's gassed.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Two baserunners in the ninth including a four-pitch walk was enough for me. Don't you think the majority of managers would have done about the same? Also: the comment about the character of members of the media was a bit chippy even for a game thread. Let's keep the tone respectful of others, even ones not participating in the discussion.

In any event, I think allowing two runners on with one out would be a better reason...and I'd say it like that, 'well he was starting to get in a bit of trouble there, so it was a good time to pull him' And again, I didn't even see the game, and maybe he was gassed or looked gassed, but this whole gassed thing is way overused as a reason by him.
