This is the Sports Bar, the expectations are a bit more relaxed here because it is NOT essential baseball talk. Personal attacks and spreading hate and intolerance aren't allowed, but if people want to celebrate what is hopefully the beginning of the end of some of one of the darkest times in our country's history, that's fine. Obviously as you object to the thread, I understand you likely don't agree with that. That's OK, I guess. But again, we don't consider the Sports Bar required reading material.

No, I'm actually curious what you mean by that. What aspects of sports do you see religion playing into?

Can I add getting mindless patriotism out of sports too?  Like...I love America.  It's a pretty swell place, but do we need to be hit over the head with it while I'm watching baseball?

National Anthem?  Sure, the Olympics makes sense.  National pride.  Got it.  A random November game between the Wild and Sharks?  Why?

I'll happily cheer for a vet during the sixth inning but do I need to sit through John Denver this many times in my life?
