McCaffrey is way better. Better receiver. Better blocker. I'm not interested in half measures. Either go for it, or stay the course. I understand your perspective! Just disagree.

I think McCaffrey is a slightly better player but I think you'd see more from him (like in San Fran) with a better infrastructure around him.  The poor guy basically sees a stacked box at levels only Derrick Henry can match.

Schefter reporting that Irsay doesn't want to move Taylor.

If that's the case I shift my attention to Cousins.  Part of the difficulty in all of this is figuring out the behind-the-scenes QB drama that involved KOC, McCarthy, Kyler, etc.

They do want to trade Buckner.....

Correct!

A 4th rounder is a cheap price, but he is on the decline. At the very least, all the vets are up for sale in Indy. Sounds like they will need a big package to move Taylor.

Nelson, Buckner and Taylor are really the only Colts in the rumor mill, but I think there is a super obvious one the Vikings should go after and who'd likely be very cheap. And would help this team way more than most realize. Andrew Ogletree is one of, if not THE best blocking TEs in the game. This is the last year of his rookie deal and he doesn't catch passes so he likely can't command much of a return. Yet, he'd not only replace Josh Oliver, he's probably one of only a few blocking TEs that could be considered an upgrade to Oliver.

Also, the Vikings need to find another MLB so if Cashman or Wilson go down again, they don't have to alter the defensive scheme again to make up for Pace's inability to play in coverage.

And neither Cashman or Wilson are young, it probably wouldn't hurt to find one good enough to rotate in regularly and keep everyone fresh.

That's the first time I've heard that about Ogletree, you could be right, though I have seen multiple blurbs saying the Vikings would like to find a blocking TE. Though I think Yurosek is fine enough there, I guess I wouldn't complain if they swap a 6th or something for him.

I think they go with Golday in coverage if one of the two starters are out.

That better be their second round pick....

Edit...ninjad.

The scouting reports I recall had Golday as poor in coverage, especially in zone.

But the Vikings picked him, which means Flores picked him. Maybe he can do what Flores requires.

I see him popping up in Ginkel's spot more and more, they're easing him in.  I get the angst about not playing him, but drafting and developing Ginkel's replacement is pretty damn important.

I heard he was breaking up passes in training camp and doing well there, that's what prompted me to think that.

I dunno if he is the heir apparent to AVG, he has picked up a few snaps on the edge, but I think he's an off ball LB like Cashman and Wilson.

Taylor has asked not to be traded.

Vegas head coach says Kirk is going nowhere, he's their starter.

The only difference making OG is already traded .

Yay.....

Has Taylor requested to not be traded, or has he just not asked for a trade? Big difference. He would greatly increase the odds of winning it all.

I believe the headline was misleading!

Interesting development

They can move stuff around all they need. The longer they wait, the less value they get. Is it worth not changing a salary here and there to go 2 games w/o the guys they want?

This is, btw, the excuse for not trading for Nelson. VERY big cap hit.....

Not my original idea but I think it’s very interesting… Addison for Taylor. Who says no?

That's about equal? I think they are both worth around a 2nd. I think they can win more with Taylor than Addison......but I think Indy says no. I think they want the future. A 3 way trade would work.....Addison to Buffalo or KC, their pick to Indy, Taylor to MN.

Your 3 way trade makes a lot of sense too. It’s just rare to see in the NFL. Addison is 24 there’s plenty of future ahead of him for teams that don’t have a great #1 WR. Even if Alec Pierce was healthy for Indy I don’t think he’s a #1

Yeah, he for sure isn't. His big breakout year that had people talking was the product of !!47!! receptions. He was actually fourth on the team in both receptions and targets last year. He just happened to convert on a bunch of deep passes, which is basically the only route he can run.

Of course, the Colts gave him a big money extension. Which probably should have resulted in the GM being fired then and there because Pierce is basically just an A+ version of Marquez Valdes-Scantling, a sacrificial X receiver who had a career year.

Gibbs and St. Brown are back at practice.

Which honestly is probably for the best. The Lions are undeniably dangerous, but they are also frauds, mostly because of their defense (and poor coaching). If the Vikings beat them without their two stars, the league will overwhelmingly turn on the Vikings for being frauds, but more importantly, we'd still be seven weeks in and not have a real idea what this team is. If this team wins, the league and the skeptical fans might get on board. If the team is obviously out-classed, that would suck, but at least put everything in the correct perspective. And having the correct perspective seems imperative for next week when they'll be considering trades.

Personally, I want whatever it takes to get  the #1 seed. Having to win 3 games instead of 4. Hell I’ve never even seen the Vikings play 3 playoff games in one year. Going to have to catch some breaks playing teams at the right time. Would rather they be out Sunday.

Right. I don't give a rats ass if other people think the vikings are good or frauds. Zero. Less than zero. All I care about is if they win.

They've sunk something like $70M a year into Daniel Jones and Alec Pierce... yup, that should get you fired as a GM. Paying that much for a non top 20 QB and a non top 30 WR is malpractice, both coming off of significant injuries.

I was referring to the Vikings finding out if they’re legit so they know what direction to take as far as trading goes.

Fair enough. I don't know what they think inside the building, but multiple people posted the WRs were visibly unhappy last week....so I can guess.

In a vacuum I wouldn't be opposed to this and throwing in whatever pick it takes to get Josh Downs. He's really good underneath and with quick slants, which Daniel Jones can't throw. The rub being, that's Kyler Murray's biggest weakness too. Mostly because he can't see that area of the field.

But if the plan was to also get Cousins, then I suppose it would work better.
