I'm thinking of the fans across the country, and keeping interest all year. So many cities have no reason to watch for months.... casual fans didn't watch mediocre to bad teams right now.

I agree baseball has a problem with that, I just prefer a different solution to it personally.

Like? If there isn't a post season, what do a third of the fans even pay attention to for half the year. The last month? Maybe half the teams. Maybe.

It sure seems like these young guys are playing loose and inspired ball. A couple of key pieces added in the rotation and bullpen can win games over the next 60 days.  We could also get a bump from a rookie call up. Catch that lightning and get to October. You never know what can happen then!!!

Haven’t you heard?

We might have to play the Dodgers (or equivalent) if we get to the World Series, so we’ve decided it’s not worth trying to get there.

We still owe them for 1965. This is one for the baseball gods to decide.

I think there is hope on the horizon, I'd rather have all the added talent to that group that I can get.

I get that point of view as well. But when you look at a guy like Buxton who’s got more good road behind him than ahead of him, why not roll the dice? Will he still be playing in 2028 when it would be time to cash in those trade chips? Is it worth trying now for just one guy and a slew of over-optimistic fans? Why not? As Yogi Berra once said, “When you come to a fork in the road, take it.”

On that note, does his injury and leaving the game last night change your opinion?

It's pushing me into the do nothing camp.... Likely deal Jeffers camp..

IMO, since Zoll had free reins, he could have done a MLBer/ MLBer trade for a legit high-leverage RP, early, which would have put us in a much better position to take the division. Now, we need to go big & get someone like Gausman to bolster the rotation & squeeze Prielipp & Zebby into a position to excel in the BP. We have some hyped up prospects that can get the job done w/o touching our future.
