jaimedude Verified Member Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Would seem logical that the Twins should be in the market for another veteran starter with the injury to Pablo Lopez. I know they have a stable of young guys in Abel, Bradley, Festa, Woods Richardson and Festa Matthews. I would think Matthews, Festa and Bradley or Abel may be candidates to help us out of the bullpen. Bradley and Abel both have bullpen experience. Not saying with certainty they sign a guy like Giolito but it would not hurt to have a veteran starter near the top of the rotation. Giolito was always tough against us when he was with the White Sox, think he could help the Twins. Money will be the question.
bean5302 Verified Member Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Giolito does qualify as a veteran, but more importantly, he wasn't good last year. I don't think being old makes bad pitching performances more palatable than being young with bad pitching performances.

Good results from pitching, outperforming some of the geek numbers. Wants a big contract, nobody thus far wants to give him one, Once it is late in the preseason he may not have recovered from the I am worth more than my contract syndrome Doctor Wu and Richie the Rally Goat 2
LambchoP Verified Member Posted February 21 Posted February 21 I'd take Giolito or Zach Litell. Pick up one of these veteran starters on a one year prove it deal, then do the same for Kopech to round out the pen. Probably the best we can hope for at this point, but I don't expect they make any more moves.
Twodogs Verified Member Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Im sure the Twins would pick him up if he came for free?

I agree, someone should give him an MLB contract, I mean he went 10 - 4 with an era in the 3's last season playing in the AL east. But the Twins won't. I mean I think Littel would be a great pickup also for extra pitching depth since they probably wont hit that great they will need to hold teams down in order to win games. Someone will take those guys eventually.

Litell has turned into a pretty good innings eater, and he wouldn't be a bad addition, but I'd rather give the younger pitchers on our roster a chance to fill out the rotation at this point.
