Robinson Cano 2B

Travis Hafner DH

Vernon Wells RF

Lyle Overbay 1B

Eduardo Nunez SS

Things to think about for today's game:

1. Think about a win yesterday. If we win one today... That's two in a row... If we win one on Thursday... That's called a winning streak!!!

2. Think about the all star break that starts tomorrow. Mauer and Perkins have something to do. Everyone else... can take some time off and work on a model airplane.

3. Think about Kyle Gibson... We just look forward to his starts. Looking for any sign that he will pitch in 2014 and pitch well in 2014.

4. Think about 56 Strikeouts in the past 4 games. That seems a bit high for a team total... But its about average for Adam Dunn alone.

5. Think about... Hawaii... Why does Hawaii have "Interstate" Highways?

I'm out of town this weekend... If someone could be so kind and post the lineup when it rolls in. It'd be much appreciated.

1) If we win one on Thusday....it's called an Exhibition Game... The Twins next game is on Friday against Cleveland.

4) Adam Dunn would be the big-bopping savior to this team right now and . In June and July he's shaken off his old White Sox ways and is returning to his even older vintage National League form. He's led Hicks as they both arduously struggled back across the Mendoza line and his season K% is very close to Arcia's, Hicks's and Thomas's. For these last two months, his BA is in the .290s, his OPS is .990 and his K% is only 23% (the Twins K% as a team on the season is 21%). He's destined for his 2nd season in a row of 40+ HRs and 9th season with 38+. Not worth the 4/$56, to be sure, but I just wish one Twins would step up and put in a sustained set of numbers like Dunn has for the next month and a half.

I liked for the Adam Dunn comment alone.

Would be really nice to win a series against the &^#*@# Yankees going into the break. That's the type of finish that could give us some life to start the second half.

Plouffe had a month and a half just last year that was far better than Dunn's last nice stretch.

Indeed he did, are you making a prediction? We can use another stretch like that starting right now, this team is virtually dead in the water.

Unfortunately, CC Sabathia is 11- 0 in his last 12 starts against the Twins, with a 2.04 ERA...talk about a tall mountain to climb...

5. Think about... Hawaii... Why does Hawaii have "Interstate" Highways?

[h=2]Why does Hawaii have interstate highways?[/h]Any highway built under the auspices of the Federal Aid Highway Act of 1956 and funded by the federal governent is called an interstate highway, even if it doesn't cross state lines. In fact, there are many local routes that lie entirely within a single state funded by the Act.Hawaii has three interstates - H1, H2, and H3 - which connect important military facilities on the island of Oahu.

Well, we had a foul HR off Sabathia in the 1st. So there's that.

Wasn't it you yesterday who threw the cold water of hard facts and reason on a perfectly good fire of poutrage building over the Thomas call at first base?

And now you're bringing facts and information into a perfectly good bri joke.

Sheesh.

Next thing you'll be telling us the "foul" Mauer double in the playoffs didn't cost the Twins multiple world series titles.;)

And the two third basemen should really prevent anything from getting through the left side of the infield. ;-)

I'm not watching the game yet. I assume Plouffe is the DH today? It wouldn't make sense to me to have Carroll be the DH.

Good to see Carroll back in the starting lineup. I was worried he had some nagging injury.

Ha! Gibson pulled the ol' "get to a 3-2 count so the runner is off with the pitch and force the hitter into lacing a rocket to the RF'er for a DP" trick.

Stupid Yankees fell for it.

Random thought, we need an eye roll smiley where the eyes, you know, actually roll.

I wonder if the Yankees regret that huge FA contract they gave an aging starter like Sabathia. He's only given them 1000 innings of 3-something ERA over the last 4.5 seasons. Proof positive investing in top end FA starting pitching is doomed to failure in a year or two.

You could find examples of it not working out as well. It's a crap shoot. You shouldn't judge all long term contracts by one other contract, good or bad.

Come on Chief. Look at all the 100M+ contracts given out to pitchers over the last 5-10 years and I would be willing to bet that there is more regret than value. Not saying the Twins shouldn't try to identify a top-tier guy to go after, but it has to be done intelligently and is heavy with risk regardless.

It's nice being on the other side of the "blow routine plays give up huge bomb" coin.
