I'm really hoping for a trade down.  I think we could deal back 10ish slots, still get a good player, and pick up a chance at another good player in the 70-90 range.

I’d like to trade down two spots with the Cowboys. Because right before the Steelers seems like the spot some dumb team might trade up for Ty Simpson. If you could get the Jets or Browns 2027 1st…….

I do think one of Lemon, Tyson, or Tate will be there at 18 for us to draft... As well as Cooper Jr. The 2 safeties Thieneman and EMW was available. When I was picking all of the DT were on the board. I think any of the WR is our true BPA. I love Ponds at CB and Logan Jones at C. Claiborne has had a visit(s) with the org.

Lemon would be a fun pick. Don't let the door hit ya' on the way out Addison.

My bet is he'll be gone by then, but this could end up being a super heavy defensive draft early, so who knows.

I think I'm out on Tyson at this point. If I'm fair, my issues with drafting injured CBs has to transfer to the other side of the ball too. Injured WRs also hardly play, and can't play effectively if they do. Especially when it's soft tissue stuff like Tyson's hamstring issues. I've also started to hear concerns about his effort, willingness and competitiveness, but NOT from the media who tend to leak team-fed misinformation to try to tank the players draft stock. I've been hearing this listing to dynasty fantasy football nerds who break down every play.

If the Vikings end up grabbing a RB, I think I'm down to Jonah Coleman and  Kaytron Allen. Allen in particular does not fit the pass-catching, quick burst back that I want in the long term, but from what I can tell, these are the only two guys worth a damn when it comes to pass protection, and if you can't pass protect, I don't think you're getting on the field for the Vikings this year. Maybe there are others who could be good at this skill, but I'm not finding scouting reports suggesting this.

I've heard the same things and that does concern me as well. The thing about Tyson that still intrigues me is he balled out against highly ranked opponents. So I think he does rise to the occasion...

When I did a deeper dive into Jonah Coleman, he looks like a Jordan Mason/Alex Mattison type of back. Bruiser type that will break tackles and get yards after contact. A good 1B in a committee, but I wouldn't trust him to be our 1A.

Nope. and Allen is even more of a pure thumper. I don't want anyone (well, one guy....) in this draft class as the long term RB. But if they do grab someone, and they might be desperate enough to do it, the guy has to pass block or it will be a wasted pick because those guys always end up struggling to get on the field.

And funny, I just saw Tyson had his workout in front of 20 teams. The Vikings were not one of them.

Trade down and take whichever of the two safeties is left....

High level, yes do that. How many relationships does Rob B have as a long time cap guy to negotiate trades? I'm thinking we will stick and pick at our slots more often than most this time.

Going way down the list, I see Kaelon Black also has good reports about pass protection. And they actually did bring him in for a visit. Same with Coleman, Emmett Johnson, Demond Claiborne and Seth McGowan.

But he's also a bruiser type. And not terribly high on many prospect lists.

I don't know what I want here. Maybe it would be better to find a more explosive guy and hope the blocking is good enough that KOC will use him. I guess I'll just agree to like whomever they draft. And they will draft one. I just heard a stat that teams that have used at least three top 30 visits on RBs have drafted a RB in the first 4 rounds 91% of the time, and the Vikings had 5 RBs for top 30 visits.

Last year was the year for a RB.  You know....like Skattebo instead of some gunner on special teams.

Yeah, much better year. Skattebo is another bruiser and not a burner type too though. And he also had pass protection issues. At least in college.

But now the Giants have two top ten picks and there's lots of speculation they could pick Love. Skattebo would likely be fairly cheap in terms of draft capital if the Giants do a RB upgrade and the Vikings want Skattebo.

Tate is going top 10, and recently it sounds like Tyson is going to go above 18, the odds are he goes top 10 now.

Yup... and iDL. And now the Vikings look poised to go RB and iDL this season after they should have last year.

Skattebo isn't your typical bruiser though.  He's also dangerous in the passing game and can break big runs.

He's not Love, but for a late 3rd?  We'd feel so much better about our RB room even if it was Mason and Skattebo.

What do y'all think? Will Greenard get traded during the draft?

Personally I want to keep him and give him a pay raise because good EDGE rushers are hard to find. However, for a top 50 draft pick I would listen...

I say no. But I would trade him in a heartbeat for a top fifty pick. This team needs some youth and low cost starters.

The Vikings have to lose some salary somewhere. All the talk has been about Greenard, but maybe they're instead thinking of moving O'Neill? Looks like he hardly has any cap hit (not an expert at interpreting this stuff), he's on the wrong side of 30, and most mocks have one of the top OTs still available at 18. And if they did plan on replacing him in the draft, maybe they're waiting to make sure one of the guys they like is there.

OT is a sneaky need for us at 18 overall. It wouldn't surprise me if they future proofed the position by taking one. Plus, the Darrisaw situation is still very weird. I've read that he still has limitations 18+ months after the surgery. He might not be the same player moving forward.

I completely agree. OT is supposed to be a strength of this team, but it's not since they never seem to be on the field together. And this organization hardly plays rookies (yeah, most have been bad) but between injuries and Darrisaw's atypical need for rest, a rookie at that position would almost certainly play.

And even without a new OT, I'm not sure this team should be giving O'Neill another contract.
