I think thy giants jumped the screen so JJ was holding it and the blocking design was to get the ball out fast. So, probably a bad call

It might have been a back missed their assignment because he went out on a swing.  But by what I see on replay they set up a bubble screen.

I assure you....any QB for any team that holds the ball for more than 2 seconds on a bubble screen is going to get killed.  (JJ was worried about the ball being batted down, but then turf it)
