Falvey is the absolute master of using way too many words to say absolutely nothing of substance. Case in point...

“It’s just making sure no one runs away from the work that is right in front of him, and Rocco is not running away from any of the work. … We’re all side by side with him, as is the staff and as our core players,” Falvey told Hayes. “We’re trying to figure it out together.”

It's the end of June. The time for figuring things out was in spring training. And how would one even 'run away' from the work - resign, quit? It's just complete nonsense. While Rocco's on the front line for criticism, and some of it justified, Falvey's decisions are probably more responsible for the Twins' failures than Rocco's managing.

Can’t agree more.  Falvey knows the team is now in lame duck mode as the Pohlads have all but checked out.  They truly thought Ishbia would be owner by now, but here they are still holding the bag, no buyer in sight, and a product that’s slumping badly, with mounting debt (400 million plus) tacked on from their failing commercial ventures.  This is now reflected in attendance (or lack there of), closed food stands at the stadium, fired staff, downsized scouting department, etc.

It almost looks and feels like a bankruptcy in the works when walking around Target Field,  and the fans and players know it.  Falvey has no real motivation or budget to improve the team so he’s forced to just talk in endless circles while the team swirls the drain.

Putting on my tin foil hat, I’ve speculated for quite some time now that the Pohlad’s unloaded their debt from Carousel Motors onto the Twins in order to maximize the sale price of Carousel, but this backfired on a potential sale of the Twins franchise itself.  Ishiba knew what they were doing and wisely backed out. The timing of the sale, the bloated asking price for the franchise, shuffling of debt, & subsequent payroll cuts when a sale didn’t materialize in early spring, lineup well.  The Pohlads also have extensive commercial real estate holdings which have been in a massive slump since Covid which is eating away at the family fortune.  I do not expect ANY significant changes come the trade deadline aside from possible salary dumps.

i also forgot to add the issue with tv broadcast rights and the bankruptcy of Bally Sports North also played a big role in the lack of a sale of the franchise.  Why would a potential buyer step into that quagmire?  This whole situation has been an utter DISASTER.
