ashbury Verified Member Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 It's kind of fun and exciting, and I don't mean this to be snide, to note that our first-rounder has a residual case of acne. The promise of youth!

Tibs Verified Member Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 I'm not very familiar with how rookie league teams work. Does everyone get a chance to play to see what they can do?
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted June 21, 2013 Author Posted June 21, 2013 I'm not very familiar with how rookie league teams work. Does everyone get a chance to play to see what they can do? To some degree, yes. But a guy like Buxton last year played pretty much every day once he started playing. But, catchers will split time fairly equally and maybe get some extra at bats as a DH (like Brian Navarretto today) or play some 1B (like Jorge Fernandez today). Likely won't see a pitcher throw more than about 4 innings in the GCL. More in Elizabethton.
YourHouseIsMyHouse Provisional Member Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Minier is on this team? That's all I needed to hear.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 For some reason I thought they had a big pitching prospect in the international FA market last year...
roger Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Seth, do you know what happened to Drew Leachman and Kelvin Mention?
Jeremy Nygaard Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Seth, do you know what happened to Drew Leachman and Kelvin Mention? Both released earlier this season.

Jeff A Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 "Slow start" is being very kind to Will Hurt. Still, the Twins obviously see something in him, or he wouldn't still be around. Maybe he'll get it going this year.

Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted June 22, 2013 Author Posted June 22, 2013 GCL numbers don't matter too much. When you start out something like 0-30, along with a very small sample size, the numbers won't look too good overall. But you don't draft a 17 year old and not give him a real chance. He's got tools.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 wow, great update and detail, thanks Seth.
