I was not, not even a smidgeon.

Bellinger had a good season last season but the several years of non performance, almost certainly due to a past injury, were a big red flag for most organizations. It made a ton of sense for the Cubs to bring Bellinger back and the contract makes sense for them and Bellinger.

I'm curious how the "experts" ever came to a conclusion that Bellinger could sign a 10-12 year contract for money in the $150-200+ million range. That always seemed misinformed, at least to me.

I'm not sure how Chapman gains a long term  deal either. Three or four years would be a maximum for him. Montgomery and Snell should land deals of around $100 million.

He is only 28, and can play a good up the middle position defensively. But yeah, his 2021-2022 seasons give a ton of pause. This will be an earn-it type season upcoming

Either that, or he can stay with the Cubs and make another $30 million. Two good options.

A 1st Correa-type contract. A bunch of opt-outs. I see him opt out his 1st year & do it differently
