Reading the article, yeah, he's mostly right.

On the other hand, he had no business making those broad generalizations about the players on his team. Zero chance all of them are homophobes yet all of them get thrown under the bus. Had he left the players out of it and only criticized Goodell, Jones and anyone else running the show it would have come off as more genuine.

Agreed, not to mention his comments about fans......

I'd stopped reading before that. Yeah, another dumb comment.

If he had any thoughts of being some beacon of enlightenment in a league who's stances on social issues are about 50 years out of date, he failed miserably.

Ya, I regret my initial post.....as I should have read it in more detail first. My bad.

Well I laughed at your comment before even reading it.

Which is pretty much my default reaction when reading something unflattering about Jerry Jones.

I started watching, realized I didn't care to. I guess I'm not as much an NFL fan as I was

Yeah, I watched the 1st quarter and the wife wanted to watch something else, so we did. Refs made sure KC won. :-)

Hmmm, I wonder if an even better LT wasn't actually available. The Panthers are sitting Ikem Ekuonu due to an ankle injury. Probably accurate, but sitting a guy to protect his trade value has become a bit of a trend.

Probably wouldn't have been a great fit though I suppose. He was a first round pick in 2022 so he'd be on the books next year too and in 2026 unless his option isn't picked up. He'd likely cost considerable draft capital AND the Vikings would have had to pay 3 starting caliber tackles.

And he's probably legitimately injured and I'm reading too much into it.

According to PFF, for whatever it's worth, Ekwonu is elite at run blocking (10th out of 122), and middling at pass blocking (56th).  He also has commited 9 penalties, ranking him 117th.  Doesn't seem like the best fit for an offense that wants to throw a decent amount.

That said, Cam Robinson is worse in the run game (52nd), and only slightly better in the pass game (43rd).  Only 3 penalties, but 4 sacks, as opposed to Ekwonu's 2.  I don't know that you can put all the blame for sacks on the OL, so I'll simply say that Robinson commits fewer penalties, wins on pass blocking by 3.3 percentage points, but loses on run blocking by 16.1 percentage points.

All that to say, it probably was a question of draft capital (I'm sure the Panthers wanted a 2nd or 3rd in 2025 at minimum for a 24 year old drafted less than 3 years ago who grades out as a top 30 tackle; the Vikings do not have that to give), and future payroll; do the Vikings want to have almost $50M tied up in tackles?
