70charger Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Well, 6IP and 6ER for Gibson. Not the result he wanted, I think. On the bright side, Arcia has a double and a home run.

Pius Jefferson Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 The question I would have is why is Gibson still having these kind of starts in Rochester?

Gibson is a C prospect at best at this point, closer to Dan Serafini then Brad Radke. Vance Worley at the exact same age has 56 major league starts.

a-wan Verified Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I guess we'll see Gibson pitch for the Twins about the same time Sano and Rosario make the major league team.
cmb0252 Provisional Member Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Seriously, does it always rain in Cedar Rapids? These delays/postponements are getting ridiculous.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 I'm going next weekend. I hope it won't be either a rainout or two doubleheaders.
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 And exactly one fewer Tommy John surgery. Totally the same thing... That doesn't make Gibson a higher prospect, or excuse his lack of performance. If Gibson pitches 326 non September call up innings in the majors I'll be shocked.

cmb0252 Provisional Member Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Nice first game for Buxton. 2-3 with a walk and a SB. He was caught stealing though. BA back to almost .340.

He will never be an ace but I don't see why he can't be a solid big league pitcher, much less throw over 326 innings.
Ncgo4 Verified Member Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Sano 0-2 w/ 2 K's and pulled in the fifth. Any idea what's going on?
CairoCrown Provisional Member Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Sano 0-2 w/ 2 K's and pulled in the fifth. Any idea what's going on?Benched after he didn't hustle to first on a dropped third strike.
Oxtung Verified Member Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 You're getting off to a godawful start here. ****ting on the Twins in every post is quite covered by other posters. Thanks though. So you're saying he's the Aaron Hicks of Twins Daily?
Ncgo4 Verified Member Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Gotta love Mientkiewicz. He may be the perfect coach for a group of young men that can't help but read their own "Can't Miss" publicity. As well as training, developing and teaching he's got to make them responsible young ball players. Sometimes that means a bruised ego. Rosario last week, Sano this. Keep it up Dougie.
Oldgoat_MN Verified Member Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Too many visitors here are so anxious to see Gibson at the MLB level they are ignoring the fact that he still has some learning to do. He has some genuine skills. Great! Now, let him develop some consistency at the AAA level. Bringing him to the Majors where ever mistake gets exploited by real MLB hitters is not going to help his confidence. This is why it is wise to have patience with young players.
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 This is why it is wise to have patience with young players...... ....who are still somehow considered "young" by some, when they are, in fact, 4 months shy of age 26? Vance Worley is all of ONE MONTH OLDER than Gibson, and he is in his 4th year of major league ball.
B Richard Provisional Member Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Benched after he didn't hustle to first on a dropped third strike. Good.

At this point if he can match Willie Banks or Kevin Slowey's career #'s I'll take it.

I have to say, it's starting to feel that way, yes. Now the flooding is expected this weekend. Fortunately, the Kernels are packing the bus for the Chicago 'burbs and a 4 game series at Kane County this morning.
