Time for a new pitcher?

I don't know if any good free-agents remain unsigned. We're stuck with Pelfrey for now.

The last three balls have been hit very, very hard. They are playing with fire, and what used to be a six run lead, leaving Pelfrey in right now.

Edit: Done playing with fire. Now putting antibiotic salve on emerging blisters. That's four mashed balls in a row. And Casilla tries to bunt with two out and a man on second.

I can't say he's pitched well, but neither has he been in trouble much. It's ugly, but effective.

That said, when he melts down, he melts down quickly. We need these insurance runs.

You should manage this team.

Yeah. If the bullpen is short one guy (Perk) already, and in the middle of a long sequence of games with no day off, it sure would be nice to have a starter get through the seventh.

Maybe Correia followed by Pelf isn't ideal.

Good thing Gardy got Perk and Burton some work in the blowout the other night

No error posted on Arcia. Seems like it should have been one.

Willingham doubled the runner off on that line drive, but the ump called him safe. Very, very close play.

I've said it before and I will say it again.... The error stat is meaningless at this point. We all know that was an error and Arcia would probably agree, but god forbid the actually score it as one.

Tough luck for Pelf with the no double up and Arcia blunder.

That's definitely true, but there are also some baseballs that are flat on one side from that inning too.

Not giving an error on the play is like saying Adrian Peterson rushed for 15 yards when he got stopped at the line of scrimmage.

Go ask Stew. He's a standup guy and will respond.

too many bats in the pelfrey. get it? because i don't.

A google search turns up too many hits for this phrase, to hold you personally accountable. But you are warned.

But no research is ever truly wasted. The search informed me that such a thing exists as Kranepool Society :: A New York Mets Blog ? A daily account of the trials and tribulations of the New York Mets. Contact me at sinymets@aol.com .

The best part is that I hadn't checked the thread in about half an hour. I just thought it seemed... appropriate to point that out.

They all were within 90 seconds of each other. No one should be responsible for refreshing at that high a rate.

Hey look, the Orioles got a double! Dick says that's 5 doubles in 8 PAs. Doesn't count the mashed line drive that went right to the Hammer last inning. Let's get an out here, relatively quickly.

Doumit did a terrible job framing that pitch that he caught in the dirt. If you backhand it you're never going to get the strike call.

Not as terrible a job as Plouffe did throwing that ball away, though. That was really bad.
