He is currently at 6ip, 2h, 0r, 2bb, 6 k. I would be stunned if he isn't the starter Monday at Target Field.

I posted the same thing in the minor league thread. I think it is time to call him up.

Will we see Gibson or De Vries? Hard to say, I think.
I've thought for awhile that the only minor league pitcher that could force his way on to the major league roster is Gibson. I still think so. BTW, Gibson is through 8 with 101 pitches and three hits, no runs.

Nice night to pitch 8 innings of scoreless ball.

According to Twitter only 4 balls out of the infield all night against 27 batters.

According to Gameday, Gibson has 11 ground ball outs and one out in the air.

There's really no economic reason to keep him down any longer so I don't see why he wouldn't be the first guy called up. De Vries was nice for us last year but he's not in Gibson's class.

Complete game shut out. Yawn.

Why are they burning all those innings at Rochester? Fire Glynn!!1!

Gibson is coming off a terrible outing. He needs to have some consistency before they call him up. I love the start, don't get me wrong. I don't want the Twins to bring him up too early. I'm not suggesting he's that far away, but he's been alternating good start bad start all season.

I think it's time for Gibson to come up. He'll be 26 this year, he's well over a year removed from TJ surgery, and he's pitched well for Red Wings. The guy is a groundball pitcher who will benefit from major league defense and he misses bats.

I'm not going to cry foul if he gets the call, I just want to see consistency before he takes a huge step into the MLB. Its hard enough to adjust to this level, makes it even harder when you're still battling back from an injury. I want to see Gibson as much as the next guy. It does no good if he comes up and gets rocked.

I get what you're saying but I disagree that he's had a bunch of bad starts. He's made 7 starts. One was horrible (May 3) and he got tagged a bit in another (April 11). His other 5 have been pretty good. He got squeezed a bit in one, twice as many walks called in that start then in any other, but he didn't give up many hits to one of the better AAA teams. He's on a innings limit this year and the Twins aren't going to play .500 all year (sadly). He'll likely get touched up when he comes up here but it's time for him to do it up here and he can't be worse than Hernandez. If he's on a 130 inning limit, he probably only has about 15 starts left in him this year. He's made 30 career starts at AAA. He doesn't need anymore.

Gibson for Fien, with Hernandez to the bullpen? Or just switch out Gibson for Hernandez? I do think the Twins like Hernandez and don't want to assign him the role of LOOGy at age 24. However, in terms of value to the club, he could help them by getting out lefthanded hitters right now.

I like Gibson a lot. When I saw him pitch in spring training, he had command issues, yielded a run or two and then settled down to whiff a couple good hitters. I think it is time for him to earn his stripes in the majors.

Straight switch:

Hernandez for Gibson when it is time.

Also, when are the Twins going to let Hendriks sink or swim? It's either that or find out if his stuff plays up in the bullpen...

If Pelfrey falters again, I'd like to see Hendriks get one more shot at the rotation. Give him five starts to see what he can do with the firm understanding that he won't see the Minnesota rotation again if he fails.

De Vries and Deduno are just too old. If a vet fails, he should be replaced by a prospect so you can see what you have in them.

I actually think Hernandez best role would be in the pen. LOOGY and occasional long man but I can see why the Twins might want him to keep starting a bit longer in AAA just to see what he has or if he can improve against righties. But he shouldn't be blocking Gibson at this point.

As for Hendriks, I still think he can be a good ML backend starter but he's young. Let him get it straightened out at AAA (is he working on a new pitch?) before calling him up.

I am all for Gibson, he will be up soon enough, he is still inconsitent but he will get some big league innings this year

I was so hoping we would get thru this thread without someone bringing up Hendriks, not gonna happen..Devries , Deduno, Walters, & even Hernandez have passed him up....and Gibson is ahead of them all.

Looking at Hendriks AAA stats a bit I think we might be short sheeting him. (Is that a phrase?).

He's posting a sub 3.00 fip, if you trust that. He's walked one batter in 22ip. His Babip is insanely high which might be b/c of the AAA infield. He's getting a lot of ground balls. And he is still only 24. I might have been wrong to suggest sitting him in AAA longer. I'd like to see him get starts before Devries, Walters and Hernandez. It's probably better to let him start than Deduno but Deduno is so much fun to watch ....

I'd give Gibson at least one more start in AAA. I too, feel a need for some consistency. Let's see how he responds after the last start with throwing so many pitches.

We need to get Gibson up here soon, I cant stand seing everyone of our starting pitchers struggle to hit 90mph on the gun. Hernandez is absolutely horrible, cant wait to see him out of here.
