ashbury Verified Member Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Doesn't matter if you strike out the side! It's way too easy to chalk this up to his growing up by about 5 years after that cracked rib incident, but that's the direction I'm going with this anyway. Good start to his season.
ashbury Verified Member Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Aaron Hicks for the game so far: 2 walks, 2 runs, 2 outs to third base. OBP=.500, SLG=.000, OPS=.500. Good game in some respects, but if he gets sent down he may mutter the old Metrodome mantra: Walks Will Haunt.
Oxtung Verified Member Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Why would you ever throw Mauer anything other than a strike on pitch 1? Obviously the Angels have never heard of Sabermetrics either!
Ultima Ratio Verified Member Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Last back-to-back 4 hit game came form D. Valencia in July of 2010 -- according to Halos' broadcasters. Good job baby J.
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 I reckon Trumbo would destroy TF if the Twins were ever able to get him.
snepp Verified Member Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Don't worry Dickbert, we'll give Swarzie a "sabermetric save" for you.
ashbury Verified Member Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Don't worry Dickbert, we'll give Swarzie a "sabermetric save" for you. Since Perkins is coming in, I think these are called "holds".
snepp Verified Member Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Since Perkins is coming in, I think these are called "holds". Cybermetronerds call them "shutdowns."
B Richard Provisional Member Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Not an easy play but I'll wager a good number of RFs make it
B Richard Provisional Member Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Florimon!!! Sweet baby jesus great play
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Yeah Pujols doesn't survive the zombie apocolypse either.
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Did anyone else randomly get switched to the Angels broadcast?
Ultima Ratio Verified Member Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Well, a sweep of then Angels would make up for the Royals sweep, I guess.
ashbury Verified Member Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 This rough ending to the ninth inning is my fault. I put up a victory avatar prematurely. Won't happen again.
amjgt Verified Member Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Did everyone else get Angels announcers for the final two outs? I am in Rochester (mn), but I had dickbert before that.
ashbury Verified Member Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Florimon!!! Sweet baby jesus great play Don't take Mauer's name in vain.
one_eyed_jack Verified Member Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Yeah I got the Angels broadcast too. I had just popped over to FSN+ to check in on our local hockey club, and came back to that instead of Dick and Bert. It made for a weird 9th inning. Things got a little too close for comfort at the end there, but a W nonetheless. And now the Wild just gave up 2 quick goals in the third and it's 5-3 instead of 5-1. Dammit. My expectations for the 2013 are still not high, but I think this team will be a great deal more watchable than it was the last couple of years. Hopefully it's a step towards a return to relevance next year.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Bullpen has hasn't been taxed the last few days, so Swarzak going that long was a surprise. Probably just letting a guy on a roll stay out there, but maybe Gardy wanted to see if he could sustain that level for future reference.
ashbury Verified Member Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 maybe Gardy wanted to see if he could sustain that level for future reference. My take as well.
amjgt Verified Member Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Gardy: Mastro in a walking shoe. You know, what shoes are intended for
amjgt Verified Member Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Excited to get Arcia for a couple weeks.
Alex Verified Member Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Yeah Pujols doesn't survive the zombie apocolypse either. Yeah but he takes he takes a big bat to a bunch of them, hitting 33 percent of the time and probably brains 40ish zombies with it before going down.
Oxtung Verified Member Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Gardy: Mastro in a walking shoe. You know, what shoes are intended for Walking over to the disabled list check-in line?
Oxtung Verified Member Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Yeah but he takes he takes a big bat to a bunch of them, hitting 33 percent of the time and probably brains 40ish zombies with it before going down. The mental image of that just sent me into a fit of laughter...oh good lord that was funny.
