IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Well, many of us were wondering how long it would take for this team to start playing unwatchable baseball. I guess we're at that point. Baby steps - it's all relative, and the first week was pretty good. Maybe next year we'll get two good weeks before they fall apart. The year after that, three...

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 I've got a call - Hammer ends the no-hit bid here. Pre-Mature... By a hair.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Parmelee's defense continues to be a pleasant surprise.
glunn Community Moderator Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Glunn... You Jinxed us. Look what happened... You and your 72 degrees all the time. I'm sorry. This loss in 100% on me.
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 I'm sorry. This loss in 100% on me. I hope Gardy isn't too tough on you in the post-game interview.
glunn Community Moderator Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 I hope Gardy isn't too tough on you in the post-game interview. I deserve whatever he says. If it's any consolation, it's only 65 degrees and cloudy here today.

IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 All joking aside, this is another one that belongs on the heads of the batters. One bad inning from Diamond aside, the pitching has done the job. Neither Diamond nor the bullpen lost this.
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Too bad they took Harvey out when he was absolutely dominating.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Glunn... shhhh... Don't say anything about what's happening in the... You know... Ninth.
one_eyed_jack Verified Member Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Wait, do we almost have a ball game here?

IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Isn't there a law against taking a pitch right down the middle for a 3rd called strike to end the game? What's the penalty for that?
one_eyed_jack Verified Member Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Not good AB's by Morneau or Doumit there.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Gardy, snapping at a reporter in PG about moving Hicksie down in the order: "We'll let you know when we're going to do that so you don't have to keep asking every day". At least he managed to avoid dropping the F bomb between "every" and "day".

One bad inning from Diamond aside, the pitching has done the job. Neither Diamond nor the bullpen lost this. That provides meaningful consolation. Let's hope that the offense picks up tomorrow.
Top Gun Provisional Member Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Home field advantage is left in the dome.
glunn Community Moderator Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Glunn... shhhh... Don't say anything about what's happening in the... You know... Ninth. I did my part-- was on the phone during the 9th.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 It looks like Diamond ran out of gas after 4. Maybe next time, he can get to 6. He'll be fine.
Gibby Provisional Member Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Did someone say joke? Kid is being interviewed by the divorce court judge. "Do you want to live with your mommy?" "No, she hits me every day." The judge is taken aback. "Oh my. Do you want to live with your daddy?" "No, he hits me every day too." "Wow. Then, who do you want to live with?" "I want to live with the Minnesota Twins starting lineup. They don't hit anybody."I respectfully disagree. I think you may have been trying to be humorous, but this is nothing to joke about.
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Parmelee's defense continues to be a pleasant surprise. People once described Parm's RF defense as Delmonesque, I think he's on the brink of easily surpassing the Kubelesque standard. That, how Diamond did and Morneau's first dinger were the only things remotely interesting today. I have a sneaking suspicion it's going to be a long, hard slog to make all my game commitments this year .

And Parm has had few enough reps in right, especially in the last 3 years and in Target Field, that his defense there should have more room for improvement than most guys of his age and experience level.
Kwak Verified Member Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Finally! People accepting that Parmalee isn't some sea lion in the OF.

Judgement call, as I was recycling a very old sports joke, but I took it down shortly after you commented. If it hurt your eyes so much, you'd probably edit or remove your own response now.

We don't need to take ourselves so ****ing seriously every minute of every day. I don't think you should have deleted your post.
