Season of parity?

Number3

Only the Nationals in either league have won less than 3 games and no one in AL has won more than 6 games in this very young season but I bet that it continues this way into August and September. Twins are good enough to stay around the .500 mark all year but they are definitely not a powerhouse this year. Without Buxton's start the offense is anemic. Sano should be on a very short leash and I predict that this season will be his last as a MLB regular starting player. He is simply way too undisciplined and unreliable. Twins will continue to struggle offensively as they did in the Grapefruit League and hopefully the starting pitching will keep them at the .500 mark,

Twins hitting rankings, including both leagues:

OPS+ 4th

Batting Average 6th

Runs 5th

Home Runs 7th
Runs Per Game 4th

This is not an anemic offense.

How's the pitching?

ERA+ 3rd

ERA 3rd

Strikeouts 5th
FIP 7th

Walks 4th

Runs Allowed Per Game 9th

The Twins seem OK to me. If anything, their defense is bad. Their 8 unearned runs is the worst in the league and has caused at least two of their losses. Game mismanagement can probably be blamed on the other two losses.

If the team begins to execute defensively and Baldelli gets out of the way, good things will happen.

I’m with on concern for Sano, and you can add Cave to that short list. Still, this line up is capable of being a”Powerhouse”. Polanco, Kepler, Donaldson, Garver and especially Buxton and Cruz are indeed a “Powerhouse”. Yes, injuries could sidetrack that. But I’m optimistic.

Every one of the Twins losses have been credited to a member of the bullpen. Hard to fault the pen in the extra inning losses with the runner starting on 2B, but the other two were completely on Colome. Obviously the losses all count the same, but at this point Colome and Stashak look to be the weak spots and as long as the team isn't beholden to them if they continue to struggle, I'm not worried. Even in good years, figuring out the right bullpen staff and combination takes a bit of trial and error.

I assume this is where someone says when the weather warms up the ball will start flying again.

Two things happen.

Sano gets better

The Yankees start hitting more home runs than everyone else.
