How does that happen? Do we know what the injury is?

He just touched his chest. No word so far on what's the problem.

Rant: Dropped third strikes are the stupidest thing in baseball. A hitter should not be given the opportunity to reach base because they swung at a pitch in the dirt

It's a completely logical rule.  To record an out, a defender must control the baseball, and in some cases, also either tag a runner or touch a base.  On a dropped/passed third strike, the defender (in this case the catcher), did not control the ball, therefore no out is recorded.

Also fine.

I think the 10th should be normal, the 11th with a runner on first, 12th on second, 13th on third, 14th on first and second, 15th on first and third, 16th on second and third, and 17th loaded.  If there's no winner after 17, it's a tie and we all move on.

I find it ironic that since the Twins instituted a focus on rest in order to maintain health, they seem to be more injury prone than ever.

Well, I think we all knew Donaldson would land on the IL at some point, just not in the first inning of the first game.

Buxton is sick, not hurt, and I would guess the same is with Arraez.

You should switch the 13th and 14th innings. Then you'd have them in order of increasing run expectancy for 0 outs.

Honestly, I have sometimes thought the same. No idea if that's just imagination or coincidence or if their players are just injury prone.

Maybe they should just make Nelson Cruz vaunted work out program mandatory for everyone.

Totally agree.

It's one thing I strongly disagree with Rocco on. It's baseball. Play em while they're healthy. I doubt an extra day off every week is necessary or even beneficial.

Huh. That’s interesting, though probably more complex than it needs to be.

This is basically a synopsis of me.  I think I'll probably make it my headline on LinkedIn.

I don't know, my Scotch lifting arm seems a lot more lively after an off day!

Good outing from Shoemaker. Attacked the strike zone all day long and didn't give into anyone. Imagine that is his day. Gotta think Dobnak goes the rest of the way. Twins starters have been fantastic

How would you know?

How would you know?

I can safely lift 3 fingers instead of 2.

Day games after night games are brutal.

Boy, those of us who were wondering if the Twins were gonna hit this year after the offensively lean spring training sure look like geniuses now, eh?

That actually goes hand in hand. A focus on rest and maintain health means NOT playing through injuries, and risking hurting yourself even more etc.
