Bob Nightengale says Twins expected to sign Colome.

 

Interesting, he also says signing as a closer.  Interesting to see what happens with Rogers role.

Never judge the Twins off-season in December or January - they love to wait until late to make these moves.

 

I like the move, we needed another late inning guy. They’re spending more than I initially thought.

This is a good move.  Rosenthal was my preference but might have been too spendy.

I wouldn't just "hand" the closer job to Colome, but Taylor Rogers needs to get back to 2019 form to be considered for a closer role.

So for now, on paper it's Duffey & Rogers the 7th and 8th and Colome the 9th.

Fair Question. I think they are really different type of pitchers but both can be effective. May is more dominant. Colome is more consistent.  If you need a strikeout it is May.  If you need a double play Colome.  I am just glad we have one of them.  I  think we still need one more reliever and one more starter

Probably not but May received a guaranteed $15.5m while Colome received a guaranteed $6.5m.

 

And the Mets nabbed May so early he might have been the first free agent signing in all of baseball this offseason. If not the first, the top three, for sure.
