twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Being exposed for the frauds they are, as are the BCS rankings. Maybe they should dig up Knute and the Gipper.
glunn Community Moderator Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Or maybe they just had one very bad game?
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Wait this isn't an argument for a playoff is it? The #1 and #2 teams played, Notre Dame played a good schedule, got a problem with it either finish #2 and do what Alabama did or play them in the regular season. Nobody ever says when the Yankees get eliminated in the first round that they didn't belong in the playoffs, for that matter nobody really says that for the Twins.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 Or maybe they just had one very bad game? I don't think so, they just never faced an opponent of that class, the Tide faced tougher teams throughout conference play. Notre Dame is built on hype and historic sentiment, another "independent" fluffed up schedule to make themselves look better than they are. It worked though, no way that team should have been No.1 over the team that just steamrolled them.

TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 I thought the BCS title game was outstanding. Georgia almost pulled it out!

Lol, so true, the actual title game should have been the rematch and probably would have been if not for ND's independent schedule. Two straight years of an all SEC championship would have sent Rick Reilly and the BIG 12 and PAC 10 people right over the edge though, despite the SEC winning the last 7 titles.

drjim Provisional Member Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 I would wager that Alabama would have smoked any team they played last night. Notre Dame played a representative schedule and won them all, it's not their fault no other team did the same.

TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Story of Manti Te'o girlfriend death apparently a hoax - ESPN ND is such a bunch of divas.

luke829 Verified Member Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Fake girlfriend is a woman named Diane O'Meara, a former high school classmate of catfisher Ronaiah Tuiasosopo. Try explaining that at the next school reunion.

TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Hard not to still see this guy as complicit to some degree. He clearly lied and embellished quite a bit to aid the story if nothing else.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2013 Author Posted January 23, 2013 Odds on Manti making a move on Diane O' Meara? Is Manti Te'o really Manti Te'o ? Stay tuned.

His repetition of his answer, while emphasizing how absolutely NOT gay he is, has me entirely convinced. I'm sure he also happens to have a "wide stance" in the men's room.

I mean, those happen all the time, right up to the point where the other person dies, and then the star athlete passes on the one final chance he would have had to EVER see this person in the flesh (for the first and only time) in order to play a game. It really could happen to anyone. (Provided they have no functional cerebral cortex)
