The only good thing that came out of that episode was the promised introduction of The Kingdom. That will be my Season 7 highlight, I think.

I'm looking forward to Ezekiel and the war with the Saviours. I just wish they would have really let the emotions hit us. This isn't a storyline cliffhanger you can hide. This will get spoiled just as the Glenn swerve did. They gutted what could have been an epic fade to black moment with a copout.

The producers argument on why they did it (the story we were telling ends there, who dies and how they react is next) is insultingly dumb too.

I think you are giving the show a bit to much credit, there is still plenty of eye rolling moments that occur, Michonne is a bad ass, but I feel they are really limiting her quite a bit. In the comics she is arguably the best character, through her entire time in them, in this she is the weird chick who is a killing machine but has zero social skills and is paranoid. I think they have really ****ed up her character.

The governor should have been Danny Trejo, end of story.

Yeah, I think they started out well with her character on the show and then she just became another person.

Aside from that, a lot of hatred about the cliffhanger here. Not really sure why as that is how television tends to work.

I think it actually isn't going to follow the comics here. And that it is Abraham.

I don't have a problem with cliffhangers, I have a problem with cliffhangers that have a 0% chance of being unspoiled by the time the show airs.

Like Jon Snow - we all know he's alive, you can't hide him standing around in Stark armor for shooting.  Someone is going to get pictures and we'll know.

I just got caught up on the last season and this damn show has a unique way of sucking people in. It is a bit repetitive though.

I think it is funny that everyone is criticizing the show for ending on a cliffhanger that will eventually get leaked. If people care enough to be talking about the leaked cliffhanger in between seasons then they have clearly won even if it is leaked.

I have read up a little on who it might be and I think it makes sense to follow the comic. I would be surprised if at this point if they went a different direction. I will be upset if they kill off Michonne or Daryl (Sasha is also a fave) although Michonne's character hasn't been as awesome in the last couple of seasons.

I kind of want it to be Rick though. I don't hate him but I think the show could go in a lot of different directions and it would add intrigue to Carl.

No one is denying the popularity, but that doesn't excuse terrible decisions and they made some real doozies this year. Most of them centered on Glenn,

Well, that may be coming to an end.

Fair enough, but are the show runners trying to peak ratings or tell a good story? Those two things don't have to be at odds with one another.

Seeing a major character fall to Negan's bat should be the climax of a long-running story thread, not a ratings gimmick. A creator owes a fulfillment of that emotional buildup to their audience; those people sat through hours of watching to get to this point and there's an in-built obligation to reward that investment in some capacity.

There's a reason so many people are angry about it; a character death should have impact in the here and now of experiencing the show, not eight months from now after it has been leaked and half the audience knows what happened (but weren't rewarded with the emotional impact of actually seeing it happen in real time).

People watch/read/listen to fictional entertainment to be engaged and emotionally invest themselves in a world. This cliffhanger kneecaps the audience and deprives them of that investment. They have a right to be angry about it.
