Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted January 2, 2020 Posted January 2, 2020 I'm paying for it on a monthly basis. I personally get more value from it (quality vs quantity) than Netflix. My kids are young which is a huge plus to hold onto it for a while. I too am looking for a significant expansion of content... It's not enough to hold onto it for extended periods. Oh, if I had young kids, then I'd love this channel.

gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 Disney+ has a real problem with it's limited content. It's great and affordable for families with young kids but if it wants to compete with Netflix or Amazon it needs to start adding a lot more original content. But they will be doing that. Apparently they have a few Marvel universe shows in development coming and some other things. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_original_programs_distributed_by_Disney%2B I'm not sure this is enough - I would imagine Disney will probably buy out some other small media groups for their original content (they could buy Crown Media and own the Hallmark channel). And they also have a ton of R-rated movies from the Disney vault and Fox movies that they'll probably eventually add to Disney+ in some way. But they pushed a lot of people into getting a one year deal off the bat so they have time to integrate more programming. I think they'll be fine in the long run.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 It was smart of them to lock people in for one free year (Verizon customers, were there other companies that did a promotion?) while they build up their content. I’ve seen all the classic 90s Disney movies from my childhood... Now it’ll just sit on the back burner until they produce more original programs.

We got two years for something like $4/month.

Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted January 5, 2020 Author Posted January 5, 2020 I can't imagine paying for this. When my "free" year is up, it won't be renewed without major changesSeriously, it launched eight weeks ago and has an enormous wealth of content that staggers the mind. Are you upset because they didn't *also* launch 15 new shows during opening week? Crikey, man, I don't know what you expect from that service. They have a slew of shows in the works but expecting a brand new service to launch with all-new content on top of providing literally the best content a streaming service already offers is a bit much.Oh, and they launched at roughly 50% of the price of a Netflix subscription. Just having the ability to stream any Star Wars, Marvel, Disney, or Pixar film for $7/mo is a steal, much less the piles of other things they offer or have coming soon.
