Refreshing approach ( Hopefully)

I really appreciate how the Twins front office is keeping the trade deadline low key as far as press and build up. I believe it is ALWAYS better to under promise and over deliver ( unlike the T-wolves). I certainly hope they do SOMETHING by the deadline but at least we're not being pumped full of false hopes of getting this GREAT player or that GREAT pitcher only to have the rug pulled out when it turns out not to be true. Maybe we will be surprised and they will make a BIG splash!

Every good salesman can smell desperation immediately. If you look desperate you're going to get taken to the cleaners. However, the twins bp haven't done a very good job the last couple of days as far as keeping lid on the jar. So the twins are starting to look kinda desperate for pitching. It seems like the Yankees never look desperate, but for some reason they are able to repeatedly over and over again land really good pieces.

You must have really appreciated the TR years then! Every trade deadline, every offseason -- low key to the max! :)

You have to remember that the current front office is looking ahead and figuring out who MIGHT be prospects that they have to protect tomorrow and later in the future, the hopeful internal building blocks for the future. They also put a little asterix by the name if they HAVE TO protect he guy in 2020 or 2021 and maybe 2022. There are only so mnay palces, and depending on the advancement of the player...will they quickly become available anyways for another system. It is all a guessing game, as today's top prospect might never ever make the major leagues. Then you look at what is available, the longterm compared to shortterm potential of the player benefitting the Twins. A lot of work and thought goes into the process, and the quicker is that you ARE COMPETING with otehr teams for the choice pieces, or you have to askyouself (like for Grienke) is it worthwhile to expense yourself out for that aprticular player shortterm by giving away an important longterm asset.

"So the twins are starting to look kinda desperate for pitching. ........."

Name a team that isn't. In the 3 game losing streak, Twins have scored 3, 2, and 4 runs (see 5 run rule) so only Cy Young award pitching would have won those games. In the 14-4 loss, Rocco pulled Perez for no reason.

If the offense doesn't come around, it doesn't matter who they sign to warm the bench in the bull pen.
