flags Verified Member Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 caught this during the A's/Astro's game on mlb network tonight (bob melvin is #53) not about to start a debate or anything, but thought it was noteworthy and gave me a chuckle, so thought i'd share
ashbury Verified Member Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 not about to start a debate or anythingFrankie Frisch. What a joke of a manager. Finished first once in 16 seasons, back when you only needed to beat 7 other teams. How he ever got into the Hall Of Fame, I can't imagine.

Doomtints Verified Member Posted April 19, 2019 Posted April 19, 2019 Gardenhire brought the franchise to a .500 overall record. Now, of course, the franchise is a couple hundred games in the hole again. And it was his teams -- not the Oakland A's -- who were plastered all over mass media year after year for being the small market team that could compete. Kelly helped the team win two world series and he seemed masterful at knowing where to put position players and when to bring in certain pitchers. Kelly is a no BS guy and he left when the BS became intolerable. (Fold the team? Please...) Both of them are big parts of the Twins story.

I saw that the Panda tied him for number of multihit post season games. It would have been weirdly funny if the Hall of Fame only let Yankees in. It would minimize travel expenses...
