Cleveland's Jose Ramirez Carted Off Field

Yeah, I hated to see the Mauer concussions, the Morneau play at second base, Torii breaking his leg in Boston, Killebrew tearing his hamstring on a stretch at first base.  Zumaya ruining his arm on a pitch at Target Field.

And many more.

But, it is baseball, and things happen.

May the best team win the division.

I suspect the Twins are going to end up deeply regretting not doing more to bolster their pitching staff. I think Minnesota was closer to Cleveland than people think and one or two pitching upgrades would have put the Twins in a position to compete in the central (and likely win the division if the Indians have some bad luck).

It is unfathomable that they would go into the season with THIS pitching staff.

Hmm.  Looks like a flesh wound to me.  Guppy up, cupcake.

Twins fans should not buy World Series tickets nor pitchforks based on this footage.

I will unhappily eat crow if this turns out to be a significant injury.  Hard to hate your division rivals when their best two players are Lindor and Ramirez.  Here's hoping for the best...and an honestly won division title for the Twins.

Without injuries, it is entirely likely that the Twins do not win the World Series in 1987 or 1991. The 1987 Cardinals were without Jack Clark. He was 3rd in NL MVP balloting in 1987, led MLB with a 1.055 OPS and was really the only serious power bat in the Cardinal lineup. The secondary power bat was Terry Pendleton. Because of injury, he could only hit right handed and therefore only played games 1, 4 and 7.

In 1991 the Braves lost Juan Berenguer late in the year. Alejandro Pena pitched very well, but maybe they acquire him even if Senor Smoke isn’t hurt. The Braves had a very green bullpen and Cox was reluctant to use anyone other than Pena and probably stuck with his starters too long in a couple games. Also, Otis Nixon was suspended for doing blow which put Gant in CF and Lonnie Smith or Brian Hunter in LF.

Joe Carter’s injury in the ALCS certainly helped the Twins get to the Series in 1991 also.

Injuries are a part of the game.

The X-rays coming back negative is obviously positive news for Ramirez, but don't forget that Miguel Sano's X-rays also came back as negative when he suffered a similar injury.

But didn't Sano get his Crocs caught in the X-ray machine and injure himself further? :)

On a more positive note, TC carted on the field.
