Jake Odorizzi has no pitched 112 innings this year and has an ERA of 4.58. Sure his strikeout rate of about 9.5 K/9 is excellent, but he also has no control of the strike zone and is walking roughly 3.8 per 9.

On average, he gives the Twins 5 innings per start.

I've said it before. I will say it again... JAKE ODORIZZI IS A RELIEF PITCHER!!! The Twins are experimenting with "The Opener" in the minors. Odorizzi should be on the list of guys who that experiment is used on. He has 7 quality starts in 22 tries. He turns in a quality start about 32% of the time. For comparison, Kyle Gibson has 12 quality starts in 21 starts, or about 57% of the time.

Jake has always had potential. He was a top prospect at one point. He has, for the most part, been an average-to-below average pitcher his whole career, with the exception of 2015. He still has years ahead of him, but to this point, he has been very disappointing.

Garvin Alston will get him straightened out!
