I don't think a 1 or 2 game audition would have meant much anyway. Maybe it's better to let him get comfortable for a few days at the plate, in the bullpen, and in the clubhouse first too.

I believe it will either Astudillo or Wilson and this is why I'm pissed that Wilson started on Saturday behind the plate. 

 

I know they've seen him work in Rochester behind the plate but Molitor should want to take a look himself. 

 

The fact that he was not given a catching audition this weekend tells me that Astudillo's time with us will be a short one.

 

You don’t need to be pissed. Adrianza to the DL to make room on the 25-man, LaMarre designated for assignment or release to make room on the 40-man.

Why does Molitor need to look when Austudrillo couldn't hold down the job regularly in Rochester?

It may say on his B-Ref page that he plays C but so did Josmil Pinto... Just because it says he plays there doesn't mean he's good at it. And certainly doesn't mean he's an MLB caliber catcher.

Garver isn't an MLB caliber catcher but we've still been using him behind the plate.

I just prefer to be mildly annoyed and expend my pissed energy elsewhere. And I won’t go into that elsewhere in this forum in order to set a better example. Of what, I’m not sure.

Wilson is almost guaranteed to clear waivers and accept an assignment back to Rochester, though. So there was no urgency to audition Astudillo this weekend -- they can always swap him for Wilson in 2 weeks or whatever.

 

I wasn't worried about Wilson... He's a dime a dozen guy and we've gotten a look an extended look at him. I'm ready for a change. 

 

I really didn't know Astudillo from Zorro the sword fighting guy but I knew he was listed as a catcher (among other things) and talked myself into being hopeful that he could play catcher for us. That was the genesis for my premature comment. I Knew Polanco was coming up, needing roster space and was hopeful that Astudillo could get a quick catcher audition so Wilson was the guy pushed aside for Polanco.

I didn't know much about that. I also like to make my own determinations. 

 

It was more of a case that I needed to take a look. 

 

I assumed that if Wilson was going to be the roster casualty to make room for Polanco. Astudillo would need to be able to replace Wilson. When he didn't get a weekend catching assignment... I assumed that Astudillo would be the roster casualty. 

 

I was doing the 2 + 2 = 36 thing.

Pissed wasn't the right word... I didn't have time to think of a more accurate adjective when I posted quickly because I had to get to work.. On second thought... I'm gonna go with "Disillusioned". 

 

I remain hopeful that Astundillo gets a moment behind the plate... just to see how it goes but I won't hold my breath. 

 

I also hadn't heard about the Adrianaza DL stint until now.
