slash129 Verified Member Posted April 1, 2018 Posted April 1, 2018 Rodney is a terrible choice as a closer, that dude blows so many games it’s ridiculous. I know it’s not a blown save but he still gets the loss. Bad. Yeah, almost as bad as that Jansen guy for the Dodgers. At least Rodney induced the double-play in the 10th. Jansen also gave up a solo shot to a 1x All-Star vs. Rodney's 5x All-Star. Both teams need to reassess their closer situations after this opening series.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 Except the Astros' crazy Jeff Luhnow ( or is it A. J. Hinch, manager, who is responsible?), the modern GM who continues to lead off George Springer, with a career OPS of .838 (.889 in 2017), short as that career may have been so far. Hey.... that strategy won a pretty modern World Series. That's a luxury a team can afford when you have seven starters who OPS over .800 on the season. And I just discovered the 2017 Astros had seven guys with an OPS over .800. Holy ****. I knew their offense was very good but that's ridiculous.

Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted April 2, 2018 Posted April 2, 2018 Buxton is such a good base stealer because of his speed that pitchers do have to adjust. The message to hitters with him on base should be he can go at any time. Look fastball and if you get one to your liking, even if he’s running, try to punish it. If you get a breaking pitch and he goes, either take it or at least try to get on top of it.Absolutely. Without referencing it, I'm pretty sure Dozier absolutely mashes fastballs (and I'm sure Sano does as well, as that man can mash everything, including potatoes). In that case, you play off the pitcher and give them a guy who loves the meatball while Buxton is on base.
