Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 I just hope that Slama is on his way to the Cities tonight and Gray gets an one way ticket
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 I think the weather may bail the Twins out soon: http://www.wunderground.com/radar/radblast.asp?zoommode=pan&prevzoom=zoom&num=6&frame=0&delay=15&scale=0.750&noclutter=0&ID=FWS&type=N0R&showstorms=0&lat=32.62086868&lon=-97.15393066&label=Arlington,%20TX&map.x=400&map.y=240&scale=0.750¢erx=477¢ery=202&showlabels=1&rainsnow=0&lightning=0&lerror=20&num_stns_min=2&num_stns_max=9999&avg_off=9999&smooth=0
Bark's Lounge Verified Member Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Gray definitely solidified my vote for him as chairman of the #FreeAnthonySlama campaign. Chairman of said campaign gets a free trip to Rochester... Strike that campaign. Jeff Gray has been charged with Crimes Against Humanity and is being sent to the Hague Court in the Netherlands to face trial.
Highabove Provisional Member Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Fien is starting to impress. Rapid fire with an attitude.

Does MLB allow players to be removed from the 40man for that or is it more like 15 day DL?
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Craig Gentry: 18.2 defensive runs saved in about ~400 PA of playing time.
Bark's Lounge Verified Member Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 It's like deja vu all over again... Did you get that from the Department of Redundancy Department? Something like that. Something like that.

GCTF Verified Member Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Saving Perkins for a save opportunity finally pays off.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Surpassed the August 2011 win total. Hooray.
IdahoPilgrim Provisional Member Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Wait! Is that a break in the clouds? A ray of light shines down, with the promise of better times to come. Suddenly the world feels a little better.

DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 That Mauer robbed HR just cost me a chance at the $1000 in my fantasy league.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 I've said before that I'm not ready to anoint Glen Perkins the closer role, but since his last blown save he's run a nice sequence of 16 games with a 2.16 ERA; he's given up runs but not in close games where it cost anything. Closing out a one-run game against a top team today is a nice accomplishment. I'm very hopeful my earlier view that 2011 was a career year for him turns out wrong by several seasons' worth.

CDog Provisional Member Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Did anyone hear how far Morneau's home run went yesterday? I know Duenslinger gave up a 463 footer to Moreland which was 3rd longest ever at Arlington. Morneau's couldn't have been far behind that Probably won't see this since the game thread is archived already, but ESPN says 448 ft.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 I didn't see any of the game. I did listen to portions while on the road. I have been impressed by Fien. He just about has to regress to the mean a bit, but I think he has just about won himself a bullpen spot next spring. Not as certain about De Vries, IMHO his performance has earned himself a major league contract and a chance to compete for a spot in '13. My list for September callups: Carson and Dozier return. Slama and Vasquez get a look (one open spot + a Gray DFA), Arcia gets rewarded for his awesome season with a chance to impress. I suppose Walters will be brought back and Capps, too, if he can throw the ball straight and over 90 mph.
