My brother went to Grad school there. Don't recall him saying much about the winters. This was maybe a few years before you were there.

A bad winter in OK is an average winter in MN. For a California boy, it was quite the eye opener. Frost on the windshield, snow on the car, snow drifts taller than your head. Of course, I was only about 5'6" at the time.

Hahahahahahahaha. Sunscreen.

...

Hahahahahahahahahaha.

Yes, use the sunscreen. I've never used it, but went to a free screening at Hammond Stadium this spring and a couple of spots were found. The Dr told me to get to a dermatologist soon. I went last week and had some biopsy's done. Yesterday was informed that one is melanoma and go back next week to lose more skin. They didn't tell me what stage it is yet, but it's in a spot that hasn't seen the light of day for years.

Holy crap Halsey, that's awful news. Be well my friend, you will make it through this just fine.

We'll all keep you in our thoughts, Halsey.

Good luck! I too was just referred to one, but apparently none of mine were bad, just whatever stuff.

Wow! what an intro!

I think Oklahoma is one of 4 states I have not visited, btw. I think.

I am not going to split hairs as to whether driving through counts. It is an intriguing question though.

Last fall i passed through Louisville, Kentucky, which put me in each of lower 48. Do i have life altering story from each to share? No. Nor could i tell you which has the best s'mores...

But meh, i got what i got...

Which game? Technically, the game yesterday counts as "over." Unless you're going to get all technical and point out the thread is for the game today.

"You, sir, are technically correct. Which is the best kind of correct."

Be well, sir.

I think of Kole Calhoun as an up-and-coming young player, but just found out he's two years older than Robbie Grossman.

If all goes well, i expect i shall be out of signal for the game.

Which is nothing new. I was socializing during much of last night's excitement.

The Minnesota State Fair even came up in conversation, and a moment was observed when those not from Minnesota had all left the room.

If i didn't already express the thought, nicely done!

It's going to rain, and be called off after 1 batter?

Optimist.

As if he'd get a batter out.

San Diego's a charming little city.  Fly into that airport and you're driving right into the heart of town in 5 minutes.  I hear they don't build airports that close to metro areas anymore, but left this little gem alone.

California's dirty little secret: the water's too damn cold.   It's like swimming in Lake Superior.  Sure, you can do it for a few months of the year, but most of the time it's frigid.  They don't mention that when they send you all those postcards with beach scenes (ps: you can't swim here!)

Okay, hyperbole is fun, but if you ever dipped a toe in Lake Superior, then pulled out a painful, frozen toe-cube, the waters here in San Diego are NOT as cold as the mysterious -20F fluid they call water in Superior. I've been there, and I can't believe the rocks don't roll right out, it's so cold.

As for the airport in the middle of town...

...hang on a sec...

...can't hear myself type...

...okay, the planes don't bother you too much after you get used to the world-renowned "OB Pause." That's where you stop mid-sentence and wait until the din dies down.

Otherwise, it's as charming as reported. Don't bother going into the ocean; then you just have to dry off, anyway. Come join us in bars, that's where all the cool kids hang out.

Am I wrong, or is Grossman looking like a very good baseball player? He looks like he's more than just a walk machine now; he drives balls to the gaps as well as anybody. Also, his D has gotten much better. No speedster, but he takes good angles now, and seems to make fewer mistakes out there.

Kyle Gibson. Athlete.

I've heard comments over the years that Gibson is one of the best-fielding pitchers. Too bad he's not one of the best pitchers who is also a good fielder.

I'll be golfing all next week in PHX. Is it hot there, this time of the year?

This time of year?

The only time Phoenix is not hot is when they pick it up and move it to British Columbia and they only do that once every 9 years.

Tough to show off your athleticism while looking back over your shoulder.

Btw ... am looking for some volunteers to finish off the open dates we have in June to start a game thread. Take a look at the dates left and let me and Chief know which you want.
