Red Sox don't like Machado

Gee, I've coached high school football for five years and have seen a determined effort to show sportsmanship.  As I've seen throughout my time working in schools.

It's strange how you believe a paycheck necessarily has to change the expectations for conduct.

Or maybe you should just admit - you pay for blood.  That's what you like.  And you're not alone, I just very much disagree with it.

Nah, I just like it when players care and show emotion. I don't think baseball brawls and brush back pitches are remotely dangerous because in the very long history of them, basically no one gets hurt and the hand wringing over it strikes me as sad and somewhat judgmental in a class based way.  It's sorta like the "Oh, what about the children" but on a stupider level.

Thank you not teaching your players that violence is needed to play football. I sincerely hope coaches like gunnarthor's HS coach are phased out of teaching teenagers how to play sports.

High school kids care and show emotion and don't engage in that.  Ditto most town ball teams.  Kids play the game thousands of times a day without what you say is necessary.

But you go ahead and bring up arguments about class.  That seems real freaking silly while your precious unwritten rules are used so often to punish Latin players for their heritage and style.

Let's see what is happening in sports today.  Oh, a tennis player being celebrated for bringing some smack talk to the "staid world" of tennis. http://deadspin.com/finally-some-more-****-talking-in-tennis-1794953811  And, oh, apparently someone shoved someone in a basketball game or something.  https://www.si.com/nba/2017/05/05/kelly-oubre-fight-celtics-wizards-kelly-olynyk-nba-playoffs  And Machado (God, I love this guy) taking 30 seconds to round the bases as a big FU to the Red Sox http://m.mlb.com/news/article/228394100/manny-machado-hits-466-foot-home-run-at-fenway/.

The lack of maturity and ability be grown ups by these guys is astonishing.  Don't they know that would never fly in an office setting?  It's almost like it's completely different.

Slow day rooting for rich white guys throwing at uppity latinos eh?

That behavior is dumb no matter the sport, baseball just celebrates it more than the others.  Or justifies it more.

Probably not a slow day at all, this stuff happens in every sport, every day. And, considering your viewpoint that ball players encourage fans to spew racist garbage, I'm not sure you're best suited for suggesting racism.

You should at least attempt to frame it fairly.  I think inflating a rivalry based on nonsense emboldens people to inflate their own nonsense.  And that nonsense comes in many forms, including racism.

But I refuse to support a system, as you do, that routinely gives shade to players to act in a racist way.  But I guess, how else will we have competition if we don't bean Latin players into submission.  Right?

Personal attacks aside, I've actually posted links from Turbow about how Latin players are changing the unwritten rules. It's quite fascinating.

As to the personal attacks, it's probably time to move on and grow up.  I suspect this back and forth sniping isn't normally permitted in your office, either.  I'm sure as the season continues, there will be more fun/awful events that Turbow will cover and I will post about.  Feel free to ignore those threads.

I'm just thankful I'm not latin and on a baseball field, I'm sure you'd feel a 95 mph baseball to my body would "solve" your hurt feelings.

Someday I genuinely hope the intelligent poster you are the bulk of the time wins out, as it does for so many that feel as you do.  And hopefully some player on the field doesn't have to suffer severely first.

Is there a way to insert eye roll gifs?

Since this thread has now devolved to these exchanges, it's done.
