Whom do the Twins sell in 2016?

Practically anybody who isn't going to be a part of the future and has some value. I think the two that have to get moved are Plouffe and Dozier. This line up needs a healthy dose of obp and the only people likely to supply it next year are Polanco and Kepler.

If I were the Twins I would look into trading anyone that could bring back value.

I think if we go into trade mode, that's only going to end up with the Twins keeping most of the vets. Most of them aren't going to bring back much if any value.

In my opinion, the real value is getting experience for the young guys.

It would be nice to get some big prospects back, but it's unlikely and there is going to be a 40-man roster crunch as it is next year.

If you are a Financial Analyst by trade, you know that the relative value of this type of calculation is a product of the assumptions.  Assumptions should be judged by the relative degree of certainty or variance.  In this case, you assumptions are highly suspect.

For starters, the rookie replacement player would have to be historically good to increase attendance in any given game by 5,000.  Even if that happened, said replacement pitcher would only start   a dozen games at home so your calculation of increasing attendance by 300,000 is off by 5X even if the replacement pitcher is historically good.  Of course, those odds are very low.

You also assumed this increase was immediate.  That is not at all realistic.  It would take time for this mythical rookie to generate anywhere near that level of interest.  You have also assumed with absolute certainty (by way of your calculation) that there is no chance whoever you are replacing can’t turn it around or that the rookie is with certainty much better.

So, from a business perspective, I would say that the odds generating any additional revenue is probably moderate and the odds of generating the type of revenue increase you have projected are extremely low.

I said all of it was based on assumptions that I have no knowledge of.  I don't work in the baseball business.  The whole thing was hypothetical however, and I was using a pitcher as an example as that was used in another post.  I was by no means stating fact.  Mainly I was wondering if they have a staff of people who do this sort of attendance analysis.  Bottom line is if they want butts in the seats, the best way to do it long term is to win baseball games.  Which is a whole other analysis predicting success with team salary and attendance.  But like I said all hypothetical.

Nolasco whom?  Outside of getting rid of Nolasco (good) their farm system is depleted and the actual return would be minimal (bad).

huh?  What would you be expecting in a return for Ricky Nolasco?

This is a dump: nothing more, nothing less.  This is a Kevin Correia-type opportunity.  Correia was traded for a play to be named later or cash.  Twins took the cash.

Who Do the Twins Sell in 2016?  Ricky Nolasco, while there's a glimmer of hope to do so.

I've got some bad news Loosey... there won't be a return, even minimal for Nolasco.  A win would be getting someone to take on most of the contract

I don't know anything SportsBlog.  No the less, interesting article.  Is it possible?

No.  The Angels wouldn't pay ~$4 mil for Milone a week ago, they're not likely to pay $23 million for Nolasco today (and given the general state of Twins pitching, the Twins are unlikely to include cash to move Nolasco, particularly not for a "prospect" from the Angels depleted system).

They just got Jhoulys Chacin, who is guaranteed less than $1 mil, for a very fringe prospect (I believe not even on Angels lists).  That gives you an idea of the kinds of deals teams prefer to make for short-term help right now.

Good info. Puts a bit of a damper on the dump all the vets meme.

Yeah it was for a guy with high upside, but probably not a high likelihood of making it. Adam McCreery is 6'8" and throws upper 90's from the left side. I suppose he's a similar type prospect to Cam Booser.

I don't know who Andrew Webb is, but I think his idea is fantastic and the Angels should listen to him. Like ASAP.

We need to figure out how to SEO that article.  It needs to be on every banner add of every website in surfed in the Angels front office.

Brock, I know you can do this.

And I would take a salary dump.
